We provide all our costumes as we do musical theatre so don;t have the problem some of you on here seem to have with costumes not being paid up on time etc.

However tonight I got a letter from the dance school where my daughter does ballet about their forthcoming recital in July.

It reads:

Costumes will be required to be purchased for each dance. Your child is taking part in xxxxxxxxxx. We will endeavour to make these as cost effective as possible.

Please visit xxx dance shop for your child to be measured for your costume and to pay by 31st May. Orders placed after this date will have to be paid extra as we get a discount for ordering in bulk. There will also be extra shipping costs.

Basically the SO has an arrangment with a local dance shop whereby all costumes are chosen by the SO but ordered through the dance shop. This takes it away from the studio completely and makes parents pay on time. It is a shop, you don't pay, you don't get, simple as and it stops anyone trying to blame the SO or trying it on with her.

If the SO only had positive experiences with parents about costumes, she had no reason to put it out of the studio from now on. Usually it are just a very few who ruin it, but they can do it so agressively Anyone would refuse to be confrontated with them any more.
Now, how long will the shop like to have complaining parents in the house?

Interesting! I've never heard of it being handled that way. Does it work?

The shop has been doing it for quite a number of years. We buy all our studio uniform and shoes from there anyway (well I don't as I get them trade prices but everyone else does), also the competition girls tend to go there too. She also makes the girls character skirts.

It seems to work very well. From my point of view it is good as we can arrange to go to the shop anytime between now and May during opening hours (which are set to coincide with classes) rather than have to go to the studio at a set time or have time taken out of class for costrume stuff.
