Has anyone ever been hired as a choreographer for a College Dance Team or similar? I have questions en>fr fr>en

I'm a dance teacher and one of my students told their College Dance Team coaches about me and my choreography. They came to watch one of my classes this past weekend and are now interested in hiring me as their choreographer. They mentioned that they never hired a choreographer before and asked me what my rate is...I'm not sure what to say, hourly rate, per dance rate? I've been teaching regular dance classes at a studio for about 4 years now but have never done anything like that. I was wondering if anyone here has. I'd really like to talk with someone who has done something even similar like this...thank you!

I do show choirs and musical productions. For a show choir I charge a per song rate and that includes a set number of rehearsals and travel, if they need me to come to more rehearsals I get paid more. This takes A LOT of work at home, so keep that in mind as you set your rate.

Would you be able to private message me with a little more details. I know money can be a sensitive subject but I honestly don't even know where to start. Could you tell me maybe what you charge (or even how much you charged when you started) and how many years of experience you have and how many hours and days of reharsals you include. That might help me a bit to determine what I'm "worth"!? Really any more in depth information that you could give me would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

If you will only be required to teach the dance (no clean up sessions) I would charge by the dance. Work up different scenarios for them to choose from (example: If I have to pick the music its $__, if I have to work formations, its $-- extra, if I have to come back to clean the dance it's $-- per hour, and finally...if you have to choreo a dance that is longer than normal, make sure they know that will cost extra.

If they admire your work enough, they will go with pretty much anything (within reason)
