Poms Pom Tryouts: I Need help! en>fr fr>en By Emilyy Comments: 1, member since Wed Oct 01, 2008On Fri Apr 24, 2009 03:33 PM
I am in 6th grade, and plan on trying out for my school's Pom Team. 6th and 7th graders can try out. We learn a routine for 4 days, and then perform it. But I also think they will ask us to do turns and leaps. I've been dancing since I was 2, so that's not what I need help with.
I'm wondering what I will DEFINETLY need to know, to make the team. ALSO, I need to know what would be good to wear those 5 days. Thank you so much. 4 Replies to Pom Tryouts: I Need help! |

What you NEED to know: ASK THE COACH! None of us go to your school therefor none of us call possibly know.
What to wear: Dance clothes, what you feel comfortable in. |

Attitude and personality are very important! Smile and sell yourself! If you really want it, show it! Good Luck! |

I would ask your coach! But definitely have a good attitude and SMILE all the time and have awesome facials!
For my poms squad we had to:
Toe touch
Center splits
Both side splits
C-Jump
Double Pirouette
10 Fouettes (regular and in second)
Axel
Split and switch leaps
Calypso
Illusion
And then we learned a 1:30 jazz dance and a 1:30 pom dance. But this was for my high school pom squad, I am sure you won't need to know all of that for your junior high team And I'm sure you can wear whatever you want when you learn your routines, I know I just wore a tank top, soffe shorts, and jazz shoes. But for the actual try out day we had to wear a white tank top or sports bra with black shorts. So I would check with you coach!
If you have any questions or need any help message me! I know how scary it can be! Best of luck! Keep us posted! |
