Hi everyone, I'm starting a summer program called Pixie Fairies. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? I have fairy coloring pictures for the end of each day. I have fairy outfits for them to wear, and I figured we could work on beginner ballet steps. Does anyone know of any children's fairy songs or anything you do that could be incorporated as a fairy? I will definitely use the scarfs and hula hoops. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. Oh and these fairies will be 2-3 yrs old. 10 Replies to Pixie Fairies Creative Movement Class |

I did a similar theme a few years ago. If you can find one it's nice to read them a very condensed story of one of the classical story ballets that include fairies like Sleeping Beauty to give them some ballet history. You can buy some thick chenille pipe cleaners, ivy garland, and flowers from the dollar store and have them make their own head pieces by twisting the pipe cleaners into a circle and gluing the garland and flowers onto them. Or let them make their own wands with items from the craft store. |

The soundtrack to the Tinkerbell movie that came out earlier this year has some great "fairy" music!
Also, check out these books by Bobbie Hinman. The Sock Fairy and The Knot Fairy. They're fairytales that have an audio cd of the story and also a song that you could dance to.
(I'm working on a fairy summer camp so I've been researching my fairies!)
Hope that helps! |

There is a song from a barbie movie (12 dancing barbies). Whenever I hear it, I think of fairies. I use it in my classes with either wands or scarves. Some of the music from the ballet sleeping beauty could work. The ballet "Mid Summers Night Dream" has fairy music as well. |

There are a couple of cds from Australia about Fairies. It's a tv program for children that they have there. The cds have cute music, "Fairy Ballet", and other fairy themed songs. |

Fairy music (all beautifully sweet)
Fairy Moon - maria sangiolo
A Flower Fairy Alphabet - cicely mary barker
Fairies in the Moonlight - verne langdon
I'm also having a fairy and princess camps this summer.
I have some cute craft ideas if anyone is interested. I'm looking for a very short fairy story.
Also all of my fairies will be given wings to decorate and take home at the end of camp. I'd like to use white tights to make the membrane of the wings but it's getting too spendy (30 fairies!). Anyone have ideas?

Sometimes I read a story ( sleeping beauty is a fav and it's a story full of fairy magic put really any fairy tale will do in a pinch)and then have the children dance it out from the beginning where they are a sleep to the end where they wake up and dance w/ props. You can add stuff like waking up and stretching and doing some warm up exercises and now we walk to the castle, now we're dancing, o no we are running away from the evil witch (kids love that part!)etc It usually takes about 10 mins from start to finish and all my kids love it! |

We did a Garden fairy themed recital for our show this year and used alot of the songs from "A flower fairy alphabet" CD. The little girls loved them - most are sweet and short enough to keep things moving. I purchased our copy from Amazon. |
