So I need your help! I finally finished my solo dress (with the help of an amazing friend) and after my first feis in it, I realized it’s time to move up to the next step in wigs. I currently have the Erin by Celtic Creations as shown in the pic. I’m looking for something a longer and fuller - but not HUGE! I listed some wigs that are possibilities. Do you have any recommendations? Have you had good experiences or favorites from the below list, or another one that you think would work? I don’t really have a preference in the type of curls (split, etc). Thanks for your help!!

Listed in no particular order...

Hannah - Irish Dance Shop
Champion - Celtic Curls
Katie K - 4IrishDancers
Maeve - Emerald Key
Sinead - Irish Step Dancing Wigs
Aoife - Celtic Creations
Anna - Camelia Rose

I would look for the Emma or Nicole-they are similar to the Katie K but are treated with the anti frizz coating-our Katie K frizzed up immediately!

I hate the Katie K, it frizzed before I even wore it. The nicole is nice, I have had mine for 2 years and worn it many times and it still looks great! I don't take very good care of the wig yet I got many comments on how nice it looks.

I have a Sarah Gold from Melaine Murphy and I absolutely love it. The curls are gorgeous and it's very full, so I can cut damaged curls out without ruining it. It has a few different sizes, too. I've worn the Sarah Senior, which was 3 years old and still looked fabulous! Neither frizzed easily.

I have the sarah gold for melaine gammage and its wonderful id really recommend it however it is quite pricey, if your looking for something a bit cheaper try Hannah from irish dance shop thats supposed to be good as well, its worn by Codie Shiels of the mcconomy school!

But my overall opinion would be sarah gold there absoloutely fabulous and mines lasted forever :D

I tried on the Celtic Curls Champion wig this weekend at a feis. I really liked it. It was full and long enough to reach my shoulders. It is rather large though, but not heavy. If you're not wanting something really full it might be too much for you. If you're not sure definitely see if you can try it on at a feis first.

I used to wear the Aoife and really liked it, but it wasn't long enough on me (people tell me my neck is unusually long.) I wanted something that reached my shoulders. I did like that the curls were larger than some of the other wigs. The wig in the photo is the Aoife.

I like your dress (from what I can see in the photo)! The color looks really pretty.

oh, also, it really helps to make your wig a little fuller if you use one of those donut things (or a sock also works). When I wear my wig with a headband it looks somehow too flat on top without the donut. You could try stuffing a sock/donut (experiment with different placements) to see if that might make your current wig look fuller. Also from your photo it looks like you could stretch the sides of the wig closer to the front of your head and bobby pin it securely to anchor it. (hope that makes sense). I do that to my current wig (the Darcy from Celtic by Design) so that the curls fall over my ears and it covers more of my natural hair. This brings more curls to the front so my face is framed better (I think). Good luck with your new wig. Be sure to post photos when you finally decide. :)

I have the Sinead from Youngblood and I adore it. It does get a tad bit frizzed if you use pins to hold it on your head, but nothing noticable from stage. I have had mine for over a year and it's still in great shape. It's a nice full wig, but not overpoweringly large and the curls I think are a really nice size. I believe I have some pictures of me wearing it on my profile if you would like to see what it looks like on.

If you like the style of curl of your current wig, I'd got with a Nicole. I had a Nicole for about two years and it is still in nearly mint condition. It's fuller than the wig you have now, but not overwhelming.

If, however, you are looking for a looser curl, I would steer you away from the Nicole. I don't know about any of the other wigs from first-hand experience, but I just bought the Champion form Celtic Curl. I absolutely love it, but it *is* quite a lot of wig. I think it might overwhelm you- it's one that I would work up to. Anyway, i hope that helps :)
