So I'm probably totally out of the loop on this one. But all of you that have dancers not wearing tights, what do they wear? I like the bare legs when they are barefoot, but what do I tell the parents they should have on instead? 9 Replies to What's under there? |

I would honestly say a nude thong, but a dance one that is lycra ish |

They need to have dance briefs on of some sort. I'm against the no tights thing though, so I'm really no help. My dancers have to have tights on unless they are wearing pants, so I've never run into this. |

I would say dance briefs, you can order different styles of flesh colored briefs from many of the dance catalogs. I too, however, do not like the no tights trend. |

You can try a nude leotard. Depending on the costume it might show a little. But it may be more comfortable for the kids. |

You have to make sure the shorts fit properly. I went to a comp this weekend where the girls had there shorts up their butts. They must be a certain length and snug on the leg. If the girls are uncomfortable going with just a thong, they can wear nude boy short underwear. I've seen them at Victoria's Secret, Target to name a few. They show slightly but do not ride up. |

I'm pro-tights also... we wear nude tights the whole show and never take them off- even when we wear pants... who wants to take them off and put them back on right? Annoying! If we have to switch to black, they go on over the nude because even that few seconds matters in quick change situations. I feel that tights as a whole just make your legs look cleaner and gives them a nicer appearance |

Our girls ALWAYS wear tights regardless of their age or the style of dance. But our gymnasts wear leotards and don't wear anything underneath. If the leotard is made correctly it shouldn't be an issue. They don't wear underwear under their swimming togs so why do they need to under leotards. |

It would depend on the costume but if it were one from a catalog, usually nude dance briefs. |

As someone said before, the shorts NEED to fit well. NEED. I've seen so many shorts where there is not enough material to cover the cutch and the fit around the leg is not snug enough and...yeah...not nice.
I would probably say nude coloured dance briefs. Just because incase there was any slippage of the shorts, it would be less exposing than if the girls were wearing a thong. However, I would hope the shorts are well made enough that there is no chance of anything being *exposed* |
