New York is not cheap and I have not lived there in a while but if you go to Capezio or other dance shops, look for the clearance racks and tables.
I would honestly check on line first. Capezio has a clearance site and there is another site, Danny's Warehouse, that sells good stuff, overstocks and stuff, dirt cheap. Why wait until you get to NY to buy where you will pay higher prices?
For other clothes, downtown, below 19th street or way uptown. Do not shop midtown, you will pay the highest.
I would get a tour book and do some online searches for such stuff because things have changed a bit since I lived there. Good luck and enjoy. |

JLL makes some excellent points.
You can "shop" in NY but it's cheaper and more efficient to "buy" elsewhere. Carrying bags around town can get old quickly, too.
Also, the sales tax in NYC can add up.
That said...the availability of EVERYTHING is like no where else on earth except perhaps Los Angles.
Have fun! |

The Capezio at Broadway & 57th is an outlet - owned and operated by the actual Capezio company, but much cheaper than its flagship or other stores! |

I love Danny's and never got bad stuff from them. Did you sign up for the newsletter? I also get newsletters from the Capezio Outlet when they have specials. |
