I teach the little pre-combe/babies at my studio what about you?

I don't get it. Are you asking if anyone is teaching babies, being older than you, the teacher?

Mostly younger kids although i've taught classes of 30-40year olds before which I found a bit wierd at first but it was fun all the same!

What I mean is...

let's say your 13-14 years old.

Do you teach kids younger then you 3-12 years old

Your Age 13-14 (let's say your in company the non-company your age class)

Or

Older then you 15-whatever. (lets say your in company and are able to student teach them)

(and i should have put student teaching, but i thought it was under the right thing and self-explanitory since it's in the Teaching Assistants section)

Considering I am almost 43.... I have a ladies tap/jazz class that the majority is older than me! THe oldest is 73 and is a fabulous tapper, she is a former dance teacher. The youngest in the adult class is about 25ish...

But the majority of our students are younger. Three-13 is the ages of the bulk of our students.

Mostly younger, however I do teach a girl who's 5 years older than me for her solo.

I think this post was aimed at teaching assistants rather than actual teachers, which makes sense because most assistants are in their mid teens.

I started assisting at age 14, and at that time I did have students periodically that were older. I began my own classes around age 20, and since then my students were all younger.

I've assisted for a Tap/Jazz class before that were elementary ages. I was in 8th grade so I thought that I would be older than all of them, guess not. There was one girl that was in 8th grade also, it was a little strange but fun (:

When I assisted, I taught students that were younger than me. Now that I teach I teach both younger and older than me.

I have an assistant who is 12 she assists me with 10 and under. I do not think as assistant should assist with kids her age or older. With an older class like 11, 12, 13 I would have a assistant who was at least 15. I have also taught adults older than me and this was when I was 28.

I hope this is directed to teachers assistants and not actual teachers. That scares me to hear anyone under 18 is teaching. Just my opinion but that's not acceptable in my book. I went to college to learn how to teach correctly and it makes my sad to know that there are children educating children. I can not think of any possible scenario that this would we acceptable.

I started assissting age 12 for baby classes, by the time I was 16 I was able to teach part of the classes with supervision of an older teacher.

In my early twenties I had to cover some adult tap classes all of whom were much older than me and it was very daunitng at first but I did enjoy it!

Now I am currently teaching children only but would be open to adult ballet or tap classes but there is no demand for it here just yet.

I don't have an assistant now but next year my most advanced student who is almost 13 (we are a new school) will be 'assisting' the baby combo classes. Techincally in the UK you are not allowed to be counted as an assistant if you are under 14, she is joining me for the experience. (ie responsible for young children) That being said, we are living in Africa now and I have no idea about US laws.

Last dance year, I was with a class of mostly 4/5 year olds, and then one that had kids from 8-16. I was 16, and the only 16 year old in that class was older by like 2 months.

This coming dance year, I'll be with a 4 year old ballet/tap combo class and that's it! I love the little kids much more.

The only ones i teach are younger but i am decently mature and could probobally handle the responsibility of teaching older but there are so few older students at the studio all of which are at the same level as me

I am a teacher now so I only teach younger than me 2.5-18 (we don't offer any adult classes).

When I first starting assisting when I was 15 (I believe) I assisted my age group and older. It was for a recreational class so my level was higher than those I was assisting. I never had any problems with being they same age or younger than the students. Most had seen me dance and knew who I was around the studio and were very accepting of my help. It was a great confidence boost to me to have see these students look up to me.

When I was actively assisting, it was almost all people younger than me - I was welcome to come in and help with the adult classes when I could get a ride to the studio, which was fairly rare.

I'm getting ready to start assisting (I prefer to say "student teaching" though. It means the same thing, it just sounds older, haha) at my current studio again, and the students will be younger than me.

I am 14 years old and I assist kids older and younger then me.
Jr. 1 Jazz- age 4-6
Jr.1 Tap- age 5-7
Intermediate Advanced jazz- age 9-12
Intermediate 2/3 Tap- age 8-11
Teen 1-2 Jazz- age 12-15
Teen Advanced tap- age 13-16

I am 16, and I assist the beginners (5-10) and the novice/prizewinners (10-15). The people I dance with are 12-18 years old.
