Okay... So Ive been looking at new wigs.

I currently have the Katie K. I find that they dont look like the picture, and some are very different than others. Some drop very nicely, some frizz, some are shorter than others... I just find the Katie K very hit and miss. Mine frizzed like crazy, and it almost seems like there is a baldspot in the top back or the wig - right where my doughnut goes. Maybe its the doughnut? But as far as I know, a lot of people wear that.

Ive been looking at the Irish Elegance champion on Celtic Curls. I searched here on DDN, and found something about the KirKit champion - are these the same thing? They look pretty different to me. The kirkit wig looks alot bigger in the sides, which is not something I want. I like a nice long, full but not big, high, split curl wig.

The other one Ive been looking at is the Kate by 4irish dancers. The only worry I have about that is the quality my Katie K was, and since its by the same people, Im worried it would be the same. I love the look of the Kate, the length is what im looking for.

I also looked at the Meave Senior, but it just didnt look as long.

I have some pictures of wigs I really liked at the AI's...

The next question is about the colour. Here is me in my wig and dress now:

And here is one of my hair colour right now...

Im not sure how a blond wig would look with my dress, but I would love one. And if I went dark Id go a shade or two darker than before. What do you think I should go with?? Thanks. :)

The wig on #29 is the Melanie Murphy Sarah Platinum. It was new at oireachtas and is quite frizzy now. With exchange rate it is also expensive so we are considering the celtic curls champion for Nationals. You have such a lovely hair color. Going with a blonde wig can be a hassle.

Well to be honest, I think all wigs will go frizzy, mainly because of gripping them with hair grips and especially around the area where you put the hairband/tiara on. But on stage, you can't actually tell anyway.

I recently switched to the Melaine Murphy Sarah Plantinum and it is very full and I really like the look it gives. :) It has gone a bit frizzy in places but thats where we've clipped the headband on, so its to be expected really. The only downside is the cost. My old wig was from Melaine too, not sure of the name of it, possibly the Sarah Senior and it held out well too. Sure there were frizzy bits in places, but it is still wearable.

I think you should keep your natural hair colour as its different and it would make you stand out amongst all the blonde haired competitors, plus the colour really suits the dress. :]

You could also try looking at the ones on Celtic Creations Website. I think they recently released a new one that looks quite full.

Claire.

I also have the Katie K, and have the same problems. Your hair color is about the same as mine, and I wear a 14/24. I love my Katie k but... it is FRIZZZZZZ CRAZY!!! If you look on some sites they have about say 24" wigs if your going for the long, and lugsurious look!

If you like big and long with nice curls wigs, I definitely recommend you the Emily wig from Celtic by Design (have a look at my pictures. Colour 26G would look good on you)

I have the Kate wig which is the blonde one in the first picture.I never had the Katie K. so I'm not sure how different the two are, but so far (I've had it since December), I really like it. It's really big and is very long which you said you were interested in.

It frizzes a little bit around the front where I pin my crown but it's not horrible.

A few girls from my dance school also got the Kate wig at Oireachtas and, as far as I know, they're still in pretty good shape.

if youre looking to amtch your hair colour, then get a pretty strawberry blonde, or golden blonde. but, if you wanna match your dress, you can go SUPER dramatic, get some colour spray and get a dark dark brown(closer to black...but two toned.. like the 4.2/10 maeve...). you might even be able to get away with taking some non-water proof mascara to your hair (it works really well suprisingly! and its really cheap! just brush it through your hair in the very front, and it gives a nice two tone effect).

you could do the mascara trick with a slightly darker two toned wig, and it would look great!

I think you'd look fabulous as a blonde. Even an almost platinum blonde. It works well with your dress.

I also bought a Katie K, and was very disappionted in it. The colour i got was a grey blonde (not candy blonde) and it was shorter than shown on the website. Not happy.

I recommend the Champion from Celtic Curls. I just recently bought this wig and it is gorgeous. Plus, it has a protective coating to prevent frizz! I haven't had it long enough to know how it holds up, but it seems very sturdy and well-made. It's similar to the wigs you pointed out in the pictures.

I switched over to the Melaine Murphy Gold and it is my favourite by far!! The curls are absolutely lovely and the length and size are fabulous. I love how full the wig is, you can't see through it like some of the others I tried on. I also danced in a 3 year old Sarah Senior that the owner took care of and it was still in great condition.

For colour, I don't think I'd go too much darker unless you do a black wig so that you don't end up having two dark shades competing. Your natural colour would be great, though!

The picture is my Melaine Murphy Gold.

Hi!
I've just bought this Emily wig. I love it!
It doesn't seem to get frizz easy and It's very light to wear.
In the second picture, the girl at my side also has a Emily wig.

About your colour, I think you would look nice with a blonde tone, the same as your hair is right now would fit well.

Silvia.

I have the Sarah Platinum in both brown and white blonde and I love them both. I find that as long as you're careful with them they stay less frizzy.

Quite a few dancers at our school have bought the Camelia Rose Anna loose curl wig. It looks great. Quite long but not too long and the curls look good. Might have to switch to that one next time. Celtic Creations have brought out a new wig called the Caitlin but there is no picture on their website. Would be interested to see what it's like.
