Hi there everybody, i have my reigonal competetion coming up and we (me and my fiance` decided to dance to Move your feet. Some of you may already know it. The routine was written by Scotty Blitz. Its uber hard. I was wondering what you people thought about that for a state routine since that is prolly where it will be going after reigonls. Also i was wondering if anybody could give me some costuming ideas. Thanks so much.

We did the state fair last year. It was very awkward - just a heads up. Mind the old guy, he's quick to disqualify. Things seemed a little off - and you don't get scores, I don't support contests/comps that have something to hide - so we will not be back. It makes for a looong day if you're not in the LR area. You have to be there first thing in the morning and last year, my group was the LAST to hit the stage at 10 p.m. - that was just a prelim! Then they piddle around before awards. The Fair Queen pageant is held at the same time. I think we got out of there around 11-11:30 p.m. Entertainment value is everything. They love that cutesy stuff. Good luck, though! Hopefully I'll see you listed as winners!
The O'Rama is good... I really can't go further than that. lol I get called to judge often. One of my students won 1st last year at State O'Rama. You guys should do well. Again - it's all in entertainment value.
Rule of thumb for comps - don't do workshop choreo. You need something unique and entertaining. With my kids, I try choreo where they do not repeat a single step. Workshop choreo is very repetitive.
For costuming, I highly recommend Forever 21 for your fiance and their male counterpart for yourself. Hip, cheap clothes for a good contemporary number. For either of the contests you posted, I wouldn't waste the money on custom costumes.
GOOD LUCK!!!!! |
