I know that they are not truly spontaneous, but rather a promo for a tv show. But because it has that ridiculously joyful "we just NEED to dance" feeling, I want to cry every time I see it.
It just FEELS so good to watch!!!!!
I'd love to be around one of the places that they do it. I know I'd be balling like a baby! haha! |

As a swing dancer, sometimes we have dances in very public and unexpected places... or just break out in dance. I've always found the innocent bystanders' reactions the best. Some people don't want to watch "the crazy people" and avoid all eye-contact or acknowledgment of what is happening. (Twice as funny when they have small children, because they ALWAYS point the dancers out to mommy and daddy.) Others stare in amazement or even giggle. Some will look confused and may ask questions. A few are inspired to just join in. It's a neat thing. |

Nope.
I cry like an idiot (or stifle it, lest anyone notice) at the following -
1) at any professional curtain call
2) generally when the overture begins at any Broadway show
3) when my 3 year olds take the stage for their dances in the recital
4) every time I practice our recital curtain call and play the music
5) any time I watch amazing dancers
I even cry when I hear live drumlines of any sort. Don't know why. Maybe it's primal.
Ridiculous. I know. I'm a big "That moved me...I can't talk right now...I'm all faklempt." |

I have a habit of breaking out into spontaneous song, it cracks people up. I see something or hear a word that reminds me of a song and I will sing a part of it. My students ask, "Why do you do that?" and I say, "Because I live in musical!"
I can relate! LOL |

^^^ I sing lines from songs too, as I feel my life is perpetually scored by music. EXCEPT, I have a horrible voice! My son likes to ask "hey mom...who sings that song? Then I respond "Prince." Then I get "Let's keep it that way, huh?"
Blunt like his mother. |

I definitely did just cry a little, but noticed how large the smile is on my face.
Love this wish everyone would take dance breaks everyday, 30 mins. everyday everyone just dances.
How great would that be? |

THose are hilarious! It reminds me of when my best friend and I were younger (12-18yrs. We would ALWAYS break out dancing in the middle of a store to the music they were playing. I would love to do that with 50 people!! How fun! Thanks for sharing! |

Sometimes they are call FLASHMOBS you can see more on you tube. They don't always require dancing or at least choreographed dances. You can look them up on the web for your part of the country and see if they have anything going on. We have done some here like breaking out into dance to your own ipod in the middle of an Art Museum and freezing in the park for 3 mins.
I think it would be a great way to advertise you studio in your area by bring out in to a cool dance in the middle of- your county fair, or the local mall, on main street, some place like that. - If you don't have a permit it would have to be short enough that the cops don't show and as soon as it is over every just walks away like nothing happened.
Have fun |

OMG! I so want to do this with my dance team...lol though I don't think the kids would really go for it...maybe??
We did stuff like this in college, in one of my improv classes we had to go dance down the corridor connecting the science building and the main student center (the busiest hallway in the university) while our professor walked along banging a drum, even better it was during a class change so we danced around hundreds of people. It was insane...lol
For this same class we also went and improved at an art gallery exhibit on opening day. Our assignment was to go find a piece that inspired us, and then dance around or in front of it. We ended up on the evening news for that one..haha |
