I'm 22--is it too late? en>fr fr>en

I'm 22. i've never danced a freakin' day in my LIFE. i'm a singer by trade. My solo project is going to be more pop oriented, taking a lot of influence from early 90s pop acts like MJ, Terence Trent D'arby--as well as Asian Pop/Rock/Hip-Hop acts.

I want to do something on stage. And have recently learned i'm just not cut out to be a great guitarist. the simplest concepts blow my mind. But i want to be active on stage. So i thought i'd consider learning to dance.

Is it too late for me to do anything major if i begin? Am i over the dancing hill so to speak?

Any other advice would also be greatly appreciated. Cheers and thanks!

I started dancing around your age, and there is a LOT you can learn to do! BUT, you have to make sure you have realistic goals...you're not going to be a professional classical ballet dancer and get into the Royal Ballet. However, there is so much to explore in contemporary and modern dance, hip hop and other dance forms and you don't necessarily have to have a ballet body for those.

Although you'll start out behind in technique, the great thing about being an adult in dance is that you can figure out your "dance identity" quickly and really focus your training on that.

It's actually really common for guys to start dancing in college, since most parents wouldn't think of putting their sons in dance as opposed to sports, and it's also very common for guys to get good really quickly. So if it's something you really think you can be passionate about, absolutely go for it!

Let's be honest. You're never going to be a principle dancer for a ballet company. But I assume you already knew that. Take a few classes and see how you like it. What could it hurt?

Thanks for all your help!
good news is i have ZERO intention of going into ballet. Hip Hop/Pop and any of its offshoots sound far more intriguing to me, anyways.

I know you said you were NOT interested in ballet .....Just keep in mind that ballet will help you out in any type of dance you do INCLUDING hip hop. Ballet help make your upper body core strong.

Ballet is the foundation of MOST dance. Good luck!

Course it's not but keep in mind you'll probally want to start trying to get some endurance or something because as you probally noticed doing even mild amounts of movement while your trying to sing can get kinda hard let alone doing full out dancing.
