Edited by Piano_on_Pointe (209233) on 2009-06-26 01:14:25 There were two random spaces that I fixed.

I pull the tight satin shoe on my foot.
Point. Flex. Point. Flex.
I lace the ribbon around my ankle.
Not too tight, now.
I tight it in an awkward knot.
One side twice the length as the other.
I tuck it under the smooth satin ribbons.
I stand up and run.
My heels brushing back and forth each other.
I glide as I tombé pas de bourrée.
Then I jump.
Maybe three feet in the air, but it feels like six to me.
Soaring in the air.
My head tilted outward.
My arms in a position that I accidentally let leak from my heart.
The breeze brushes the wispy hairs out of my face.
I'm flying for two seconds or so, but it feels like seven to me.
I land with a silent thud.
Contently, I walk away.

There you go! I made that up right here and now.
Anyone can feel free to name it what they'd like, because I don't like naming my poems.

My views on this poem:
In my mind, this girl puts on her pointe shoes, and she simply goes and does a développé. But it's not very high, or very long, and probably not a 180 degree angle, more like 100 degrees. But she has so much passion and love for it, that it feels to her like something truly grand.

I thought "The Ballerina" or something along the lines of that. Because a ballerina who really loves to dance, doesn't care how it looks, but how it feels.
