My daughters Pom Team is competiting at the Indiana University and the same time Beg.,Inter., and Adv. Pageant Struting and Solos are going at the field house. Several girls are affected by this conflict. How would you handle checking into your lanes when your at a different venue?

There was something about that in the last issue of Drum Major--I don't get the magazine, but I read about in a friend's issue a few weeks ago. I think they have a system where you tell a coordinator who will help you be able to compete in conflicting events--I'm sure it'll be okay and your daughter will get to her events!

They also will take the teams in a different order if necessary. Pageant is more important in the Grand Scheme of Things so I would make sure that you don't miss that. I'm sure that other people have that problem, and the judges will be flexibile. Good Luck!

We feel fortunate enough that 12 out of 18 girls quailfied for the National Pageants. If everything was at the same venue, it would be alittle easier to manage. Not trying ot complain we're thankful with the Arena contruction that there is an AYOP this year. I just hope judges are flexible with holding lanes open. I'll have to track down a Drum Major to see what it says. Thanks

The Drum Major from June 2009 says:

"A cell phone equipped coordinator will be stationed at both the Notre Dame Field House and the Indiana University- South Bend to help individuals and groups scheduled to perform at the two facilities during the same time period.

AYOP directors will try to accomodate contestants who are attempting to compete in two different events during the same time period. Efforts will include, when possivle, having the contestants perform out of orderand/or holding a division open as long as possible. Cooperation is key. AYOP will not be responsible when these efforts fail.

FLEX(ible) STATUS

Contest directors must be made aware in advance of contests that you wish to compete in two or more different events during a same time period. Besure to indicate situations on your entry form."

I spoke with my daughter's Corp. Director last night and she said she is submitting a "conflict list" so judges will know ahead of time which girls are doing Poms at the University while Pag. Struts and Solos were going on. She also recommened checking my daughter into her lanes. It sounds like things will be fine.

Depending on what time the pom team is suppose to perform maybe she can do her strut and maybe solo first and then compete with her pom team.

I believe the starting letter is G and our last name begins with a B. So she'll be towards the end. She went dead first in the Pageant last year. I'm really hoping Poms goes off early and then we can just focus on the Pageant.
