I'm a 20 yr old dancer in need of a choreographer to choreograph pieces for me for dance competitions. I used to compete when i was younger and my old dance studio doesn't have anyone that could choreograph for me.
I'm looking for a well rounded dance preferably with a strong background in tap and jazz ( also it would be great if they had experience in lyrical/contemporary). If you have experience with dance competitions and participated in them growing up that would be a plus but not necessary.
Compensation will be offered and discussed along with the schedule. The rehearsing will take place in brooklyn and i'm thinking of starting mid august and continue till potentially march or later depending on competition dates and etc.
I'd like in a response email your name, a bit about your dance experience/history, a resume ( if you have ), choreography reel ( if you have), or dance pictures/vids of your choreography would be great, and we can go from there

BIO:
SAKINAH LESTAGE
Choreographer/Artistic Director/Performer

“Making All the Right Moves”

Choreographer/Artistic Director Sakinah LeStage is quickly rising in the entertainment business as a true innovator in the art of movement, from the stage to music videos to award shows and more. Behind the scenes, Sakinah is steadily crafting the hottest new choreography with a style that ranges from the intricate and eye-catching to the fun signature moves that go straight from the video screen to the clubs. She has choreographed for major recording artists including T-Pain (Jive), Slim from 112 (Asylum), Young Jeezy (Def Jam), Jagged Edge (Sony/Columbia), Lyfe Jennings (Sony Urban), Mario (J Records), Nivea (Jive) and has collaborated on choreography for artists like Ne-Yo (Def Jam), Cherish (Capitol), and Keri Hilson (Interscope), and Nickelodeon's hit series "Just Jordan" starring Lil JJ. Also known for her eye for artist development, Sakinah has been in the studio developing performance images and style for exciting new artists including Asia Cruise (Hitz Committee/Jive), Sophia Fresh (T-Pain's Nappy Boy Entertainment/Atlantic), RichGirl (Rich Harrison’s RichCraft/Jive) and Felina (Polow Da Don's Zone 4).

In front of the camera, Sakinah, of West Indian and Cuban descent, is known as one of Ne-Yo’s resident tour dancers the “Sexy Loves” and performing at every major award show and TV show from the AMAs to the BET Awards to Jimmy Kimmel, videos for Closer, Miss Independent, and shows all over the world. She has also performed and toured with a number of other top artists including Fergie, T-Pain, Cherish, Lloyd, Monica, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Already able to list an impressive roster of artists she has choreographed for and performed with, Sakinah does not plan on stopping here.

Sakinah knew at a young age that the stage is where she calls home and that creating exciting, unforgettable shows would be her calling. A native of Atlanta, GA, Sakinah began her technical training in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and modern in her hometown at the Rhythm Dance Center in Marietta, GA. She went on to train with world renowned choreographer Mia Michaels (So You Think You Can Dance, Celine Dion Vegas, Prince, and Madonna) and dance legend Debbie Allen (Fame) in New York City. While studying musical theater, singing and drama at Dekalb School of the Arts, Sakinah also found a passion for hip-hop in the burgeoning Atlanta urban music scene. Holding on to that passion while attending University of South Florida, Sakinah performed with as well as choreographed for the university dance team. With all these tools she began her journey into the music industry as a fresh new choreographer with styles that could fit not just any artist, but any audience as well.

Sakinah quickly rose to the forefront in the Atlanta industry scene with her versatile technique and ability to create crowd-pleasing choreography. Sakinah found herself with the exciting challenge of choreographing and performing with her first major artist, young R&B singer Nivea on Jive Records. From US & international tours to teaching classes abroad in countries like Germany, Japan and the Carribean, Sakinah enjoyed the excitement and rose to the challenges. In 2004, Sakinah caught the eye of Los Angeles talent agent Jennifer Horton who encouraged her to continue her plan of taking her career as a professional dancer and choreographer to the next level and she has done just that.

Also a young entrepreneur and a committed dance instructor, Sakinah recently founded ShoSkillz, a dance convention that will bring the most influential dancers and choreographers to dance studios all over the Southeast and beyond for master classes as well as to offer insight in to the professional world of commercial dance.

Sakinah is setting a path and a standard for achieving a level of success in the entertainment industry as a sought-after choreographer and visionary for stage concepts and artist development. Sakinah takes fresh talent and newly signed artists and transforms them into superstars on the stage, giving them more than just choreography, but the tools that are needed to put on a captivating show! Sakinah LeStage is a performer and a creator who is unstoppable and ready for any challenges that face her.
