I prefer a mix - from a slow tune into a faster one, as it really gets the audience going!

I like a fast song because ti motivates me to keep going as well captures the audiences attention and is very showy. There is however something to be said about a nice slow beautiful coreography but I don't think anything can beat the explosiveness that tends to radiate from a fast dance

I like the ones that start slow and get faster. If anyone has seen the millenium champion's challenge video, the Scotland team does the amazing choreography that starts slow and ends fast. It's pretty awesome!!

Fast definitely for choreography. If you are performing to non-dancers, the fast cheery music, coupled with fast, complex moves (eg. hornpipe steps go down a treat!!) always gets the crowd going, which gives you an adrenaline rush, which then provides the stamina to get you through the rest of the fast, usually very tiring dance!

I enjoy watching a dance that may start slow, but has a fast section and possibly finishes fast or slow. Costumes have a lot to do with the pace of the number. A beautiful long full skirt favours a mixed tempo number, with the emphasis on flowing lines and ballet like movements.

I prefer faster songs for choreographies because it engages the audience and it makes it easier for the dancer to execute the choreography. It also allows for more flexibility in the different dance moves to go with the tempo and beats of the music.

I voted other because I think a mix of the two look really cool together, it shows the softer and more technical sides of Highland.

I think it really depends on the dancer. If they're better at nationals dances and are more graceful, then slow. If they're better at highland and are "sharper" then I'd say fast is best. I personally prefer fast
