What are some good songs to use as performance pieces for parents at 3 to 4 year olds? I'm guessing the performance should be short & sweet right? 15 Replies to Creative Movement Performance Music |

Does anyone know where the children's song "A Circus Ballerina" comes from. I can't pull it up on google. |

I second "Be My Little Baby Bumblebee"! We used it this year and it was GREAT, plus there are a lot of cute bumble bee costumes out there.
Some other ones that have worked well were:
Rock-a-Hula (Elvis)
A You're Adorable
Tomorrow from Annie
Good Ship Lollipop
My Favorite Things and the Lonely Goatherd from Sound of Music
Thank Heaven for Little Girls

Those are all great! What about for Christmas time, I'm looking for a couple songs for that. Actually even Halloween onces for my 2-3 yr old creative class (I'm doing a dance though the holidays recital in christmas with halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas as the themes we dance through). I really want to find 2 songs but haven't found them. Christmas Dolly and a song that I know only one part of one verse but not the name or artist. It goes "it's almost Christmas day and santa's on his way, boys and girls around the world are waiting for his sleigh". Anyone know where to find those or have other suggestions? |

When I was a girl (mid-80's) every Halloween we did a dance to a song about Winnie the Witch...it started "After dark in the pale moonlight you can find an unhappy scene/Winnie the Witch mopes around at night 'cause she misses Halloween"
I have tried in vain to find that song, but to no avail. I even contacted my old teacher, but no luck. If you could find it though, it's darling.
Otherwise, Monster Mash and Purple People Eater always go over great with that age group at Halloween! |

For the Holidays....
I like Suzy Snowflake from Barney for the 2/3's. Using a little snowflake on a dowel (think magic wand looking prop) is adorable with it. It's short sweet and to the point!!
I also like Frosty for the 3's...
As for Halloween, I have a Winnie the Pooh song called the Werewolf Song by Marco Marinageli
If you need a cute tap one, I love Skeleton Bones-can;'t recall where I got it, but I think iTunes...
Hope that helps!!

We still use it! It's from Pre-Ballet - A Class for the very young Vol. 2. Here it is on Amazon:

Thank you WallFlwr!!!!!
I have been trying to track that song down for five years! You have made me (and my mother, who still gets tears of nostalgia in her eyes every time someone mentions that song) VERY HAPPY!! I am ordering that CD for my studio right away...
K_Kay, that song gets my top vote for Halloween! |

I like
Bake a Cake by Georgia Gibbs
Suzy Snowflake
Happy Snowman
Only bad thing with all these songs is that they stuck in your head for forever! But I love them!

I used a song called "I Love Colors" in our last recital (you can find the song on iTunes). I used props, a red rose for the "red" part, and yellow pom poms for the "yellow" part. The kids loved it and I think the parents did too! |

I remember! poor old winnie - dragging her hat, losing her broom, hunting her cat. I will dance just to cheer her up, so she won't miss Halloween! Did you try KIMBO educational records? I know taht's where the song originated. |

I just used Happy Tappin with Elmo, and the kids loved it... come to think of it, most Elmo songs are pretty good |

Go Fish has a great rocked out version of the Itsy Bitsy Spider. That would work for Halloween. I used it with my class and it was great! |
