I like everyone's pictures! Sounds like some people like the more traditional and some people like different colors, they are all great opinions!

No. Think it would look a bit daft in any other colour. my dancing daughter likes the navy hornpipe the best.

With the white it would be nice if we could have a navy trim on the bottom of the sleeves and the top. That way I can wear the real Aussie Navy sailors uniform, I actually have one hanging up in my wardrobe.

I voted no because I wouldn't want like a pink or purple hornpipe outfit. I just think it wouldn't feel Highland, I love pinks kilts just not for a hornpipe. It would feel like disco dancing or something.

I like the colours since they are traditional. That said, I'd love to wear a skirt sometimes and maybe add a little red, like the ribbon or something. Just a little extra personal touch, we're all so similar now.

I like the navy and white but it would be nice to have a small amount of a different colour say on the Hat or maybe a coloured piping down the side of the leg would be cool

If you change the colors of the outfit then the dance would lose its essence of being a sailor. Navy blue and white are perfect!

No, because I think the blue and white are sticking with the original colors of sailor uniforms.

I voted other as I like the navy and white now, but I think that black would be nice as it is a colour also worn by sailors and sea cadets.

I think sticking with the traditional colors and the history is definately the way to go. We participate in highland dancing for our family heritage and try to encorporate the history into our daughters dancing experiences.

We recently selected a hornpipe outfit. We went with navy as it seemed the white is hard to keep clean. BUT I had a heck of a time keeping the navy outfit clean in the indoor comps because of the white dust or chalky "floor" dirt from inside. I'm going with white next time!

I voted no. my daughter is a Sea cadet, in Scotland, the hornpipe is almost an exact copy of her dress uniform except that is made of wool. It is about a tradition and mirrors tasks carried out by sailors. Fine for shows to be different. she would like to be able to wear her hat band when she competes to show she is actually a cadet as well.

I like the current colours because they're nice and simple. But for choreography I think other colours would be really cool.

I think a little purple would look pretty. Maybe just the neck tie and hat trim?
