Back by popular demand, the Schuylkill Valley Regional Dance Company will perform its one act version of “Dracula” on Sat. Oct 10th at the Hill School Center for the Arts in Pottstown. The center is located at Beech and Sheridan Streets, and following the 7:30pm performance, there will be a Halloween Party for all ages with a professional DJ and “ghoulish” food in the center’s lobby. Audience members are welcome to come costumed or come as they would like to observe the many creatures of the night. The evening should be a fun time for all.

The contemporary ballet is the work of Michelle Jones Wurtz and Andrei Ustinov, formerly of the Kirov Ballet in Russia. Ms. Wurtz just returned from teaching and performing at the International Dance Festival in Ladek Zdroj, Poland where she worked with some of Europe’s leading teachers and choreographers. As a seasoned traveler, she often reads while waiting in airports and train stations and has become quite the fan of vampire legends and stories. She then decided to create a ballet that would portray the curiosity that Americans have with the creature we call “vampire”. Music is by such greats as Mahler and Mussorgsky. As you view this performance, empathize with the characters that are all based on the world classic novel by Brahm Stoker.
