Creative Movement Help with Games/Songs to match with weekly themes!! Age 1-3!! en>fr fr>en By misskris1489 Comments: 41, member since Tue Nov 25, 2008On Thu Aug 13, 2009 09:56 PM
Hi Teachers:
I am running a creative movement class for the first time and planning on doing themes each week. I am running short on ideas for a few of the themes and would love if you could share any games/songs you have used. The kids will mostly be aged 1.5-2.5!! I am hoping for songs with directives in them (ex. Animal action, wheel's on the bus!!) Any other creative age appropriate games without songs are also welcome!
I need songs for the following themes:
Princesses/Superheros Theme
Colors Theme
Seasons/ Weather/ Garden Theme
Jungle Theme
Under the Sea Theme (I am already using the Three Little Fishes song!)
Sports Theme
Outer Space Theme
Thank you! 3 Replies to Help with Games/Songs to match with weekly themes!! Age 1-3!! |

OH, I'm stunned at the age: 1.5 to 2.5 years?? Have you taught that age before? Will you be having assistants? or parents helping?
one of the most successful props for this age is a stuffed animal and I just use them as a baby. We do Rock a bye Baby waltz, etc. I would tie that into each theme.
Hap Palmer has a great color song. He sings out different colors (red, blue, yellow) to stand up or sit down, using scarves has worked the best for me. |

Good, so glad parents will be there too.
a prop for "under the sea" could be a parachute, large blue sheet or large scarves. everyone holds parachute and bounces to the music, making the parachute go up and down. Then bounce it up high and go under and let the fabric go over you. The kids love it. Works on rhythm, cooperation, and going "under the sea". |
