So I just found out that our ballet theme this year is colors. The theme doesnt really mean anything (I think??) other than what the costumes are going to be... At least that is my take at it.

The other ballet teacher is taking blue and doing "Rhapsody in Blue" for one of her classes but every other color is up for grabs. I need 4 non-lyric songs titled/themed/suggesting colors...

Any ideas??

Am I understanding correctly that the songs all need to be instrumental? If so, you could probably find some versions of certain color themed songs in that form.

I know there are instrumental versions.

Checkout Vitamin String Quartet or Bond both of them do a lot of instrumental remakes of songs.

yellow by vitamin string quartet..it's the instrumental version of coldplay's yellow. Very pretty

Colors of the wind from Pocahontas. This was done in a past studio for a ballet class.

What about "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper.

I know there was a colors song on the "touched by an angel " soundtrack too.

I think that they are going to use "True Colors" for the finale piece. I have to actually choose a color, so any song that has the word color in it is not quite specific enough. I actually found an awesome song for the color black for an advanced class, but was informed that "Black is not a real color", so I am annoyed and back to square one... so thanks for all of the amazing ideas so far, they are really helping to expand my search ideas!

What about the lullaby "Lavender's Blue"?

Our studio is also using the Colors theme this year.. and my SO, also the ballet teacher is planning on using the Pink Panther theme! This is our 4th recital and so our ballet dancers are not as strong as she would like them to be, so she's chosen a slightly comical and fun theme for the older students' ballet dance!
