Hey Girls,

I am looking for ideas for a hip hop number for 7 year olds. Last year they did Witch Doctor by the chipmunks and did awesome. This year they are competing and I am looking for something similar. I need something where they can still be cute but a hip hop song. Any ideas would be wonderful! Thank you!!

High School Musical(s) have great stuff. Like Get Your Head in the Game, etc. Also Car Wash. Listen to soundtracks from recent animated movies, they have good, clean stuff

I just remembered an idea i did a couple of years ago that the audience loved. It was my beginning Hip-hop class, so around the same age as yours. We did "Bad Boys" (theme from Cops) and I dressed them up as cops. It was adorable because they could have the "tough face" and was a good, slow speed for them. You could even have a "robber" if there's a dancer in particular you want to feature.

So funny my 7-11 yr olds did Witch Dr by the Chipmunks too, and this year they want to work their tails off so I "allow" them to compete. I just thought that was ironic I'm stuck on song choices too Good luck!

I'm using "Move This" by Technotronic. So as long as you don't compete in Minnesota you can use it too, it's such a great upbeat fun song!

i've thought about (we're not competing this year) doing a hip hop routine to a song from the Jump In! soundtrack and actually starting out with the kids doing double dutch... I think that would be soooo fun!

Also, and it is NOT religious, but I found some great hip hop dances for kids with Christian Hip Hop/Rap.

A good one that worked well for hip hop was Egg, Nest and Tree from Suessical. It made a fun and colorful hip hop dance for that age group.
