My school has been asked to perform at a breast cancer event in October. The theme is Pretty in Pink (goes along with all pink ribbon and merchandise for breast cancer). They've asked us if possible to tweak our costumes to include pink.

My dilemma, my school is getting their first costumes later this month that don't include pink (they will use this costume for all performances which is typical for Irish dance). I'd hate for the parents to have to shell out more money to buy let's say another leo and skirt that has pink in it when they haven't even had a chance to wear their new costume yet.

Any ideas on what we could do? My thought is to just have them wear the pink ribbon on their black leos and let it be that.

Can you add a pink bow in the hair, and maybe just for this event use pink laces in your ghillies? Think of ways to add pink just for this performance--wristbands, chokers, etc. Add things that may or may not always be part of your Irish dance performance costumes, but that would work for this event and are more interesting than your standard "pink ribbon pinned to the shirt". It will show that you are committed to being a part of the program, and that you are committed to your parents and not having them shell out tons of extra money.

Put a large, pink ribbon, like a shoulder sash or as waistband, with black leo and headband. Simple is fine. It is most important that you are there, not what you wear.

We are doing a simialr event, but were lucky enough to have a pink and black costume. There is a local salon that sells real hair extensions that are dyed pink with proceedes to benefit breast cancer. So they get to wear pink and donate to the cause. I have seen similar hair clips that come in pink, i think it was in discount dance. (they are just strips of colored hair that clip into your own) They are fairly inexpensive and add a little brightness and pop to the hair. They clip right in. The real ones can be curled or straightened, not sure if the dds ones do this.

Pin the "breast cancer ribbon" on the costume and/or get the rubber breast cancer bracelets to wear.

I'd say add a ribbon to hair or your shoes.
I like the idea of a sash across your costume.
