Teachers - Competitions What do you think about L.A. Danceforce? en>fr fr>en By Ahusk89 Comments: 536, member since Sun Apr 01, 2007On Thu Sep 17, 2009 08:36 PM
My studio is thinking of going to L.A. Danceforce (comp and convention) this coming March and I was wondering about everyone's experiences with them? Good, bad? Do tell!
Due to the economy we will only be doing this comp/conv. and a local comp so it's really important that my girls have a good experience here!
Thanks!

I went two or three years ago to LA Dance Force (the convention, but not the competition) and took a few students. I really enjoyed it. The location I went to (somewhere in NC, I forget the city) was much smaller than most conventions. Personally, I liked it that way because the kids get more attention and direct instruction. They had a great hip hop teacher- Leslie Scott. I don't teach hip hop and I can count the number of hip hop classes I have taken on one hand, but she was a fantastic teacher. I took a couple of her classes, just because I enjoyed her so much. She came onto the floor, gave individual corrections and feedback to students (including me), and taught at a pace most of the class was comfortable. I got the feeling that she truly loves teaching and wanted to help. |

We went a few years ago. The competition ran very smooth, judging very nice, as well as awards. The convention was great. The teachers seemed to enjoy the instrution the kids were receiving and the students had alot of fun. I say go for it! |

I love LADF! I took my advanced girls there last year for their first ever convention and they all had a great time. Their teachers classes are also great and helpful. Overall, their staff is enthusiastic and positive. The convention is a lot smaller than others I have seen and we didn't have to fight for space or to see the instructors. The material was challenging, but geared appropriately for the levels. I am taking all my company kids this year including my minis. Another great thing about it, is if you do the competition, their nationals are done via video at your regional, so there is no extra trip. I think LADF is well worth the time and money. |
