Its strange but while your beliefs may match up with another religion more, that's not necessarily the best way to go, as religion is often about culture as well.

For example my father identifies as athiest, his grandparents were Jews and didn't have a fun time in the halocaust. Yet despite his strong convictions, in culture terms he's still acts like a Jewish man. He really enjoys going to the synagogue and debating politics with all the men, he really fits in quite well.

Likewise my brother joined largely became a Christian because of the social support and connections it has given him. Its a very welcoming community one which when they moved away gave them instant support for his wife and son.

Also many religionsare not practiced the same the world over. I have a friend who goes to different churches depending on which state she's in.

I think its a bit silly to look at this quiz as the only factor in what religion you should be in.

I took the test and the only one I got 100% on was Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Not knowing a whole lot about it, I read the site's info page on OC and then spent hours browsing the web learning all sorts of interesting information about the religion and its history. It was fascinating!

It kind of bothers me that I'm labeled an Orthodox Quaker by this quiz. Theologically, I'm actually pretty conservative (although politically left of center). The questions on this were really skewed, focusing more on contemporary social issues rather than actual theological questions. My stance on abortion has nothing to do with my theology of the Triune God and my belief in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. But, I don't make the quizzes, so there's that.

Lirit, I know you're Jewish, but are you Orthodox or Reform? I remember you giving some great advice in a past post of mine :)

To be honest, I'm in limbo.

See, my mom converted via the Union for Reform Judaism before I was born. So I grew up in a typically mainstream, culturally observant Reform household. But the last year or two, I've been leaning more towards Orthodoxy and have recently started studying with an Orthodox Rabbi to undergo my own conversion. (Orthodoxy does not view the conversions of other movements to be authentic as they don't adhere to traditional halacha. My mom, for example, did not immerse in a mikvah when she converted, which is pretty major. Hence, insofar as Orthodox Judaism is concerned, I'm not Jewish at all, which is why I need to go through the conversion process.)

Ahh I see. I'm slowly and cautiously starting to research Jewish culture and conversion information, and it seems that many people wish to convert and join Reform, yet by the Orthodox community and Israelis, they are not considered Jewish at all. When/if I get to the point of considering conversion in the distant future, I don't know which I would do. From what I've (briefly) read, Orthodox doesn't allow inter-faith marriage, and if a married person wishes to undergo an Orthodox conversion, the spouse must convert too. Becoming a Jew-By-Choice seems very overwhelming, given all that must be learned and practiced.

Interesting. I'm definitely an atheist, but if I had to choose a religion it would be some form of buddhism. I think humans are more psychologically dependent on nature than we realize sometimes, I love animals, I love being in nature, patience is the best skill you can have, ect. I'm not a particularly friendly person but I do take peoples thoughts into consideration. Thanks for posting this, K.

I'm going to come back to this and read into the religions that I scored highly on. I've only fairly recently realised that I definitely don't believe in God the way I did when I was growing up, and going to a catholic school. What's really funny is that I think Mormonism is completely wacked out, in terms of their core belief about your man that went up the mountain and found the gold tablets, but I'm sure some of their other beliefs align with mine a bit more than RC's. I've never heard of UU.

Personally, I like Pastafarianism.
