A suggestion that I have for Twirl Mania to consider is an additional twirling division for adults. I know that it is open for 16 and over to compete together. I know that there are adults there about 60.
However, a 60 year old may not feel confident twirling against a 16 year old. My suggestion would be to add another division. It would be something like age 16-29 then age 30 and over. Or maybe it could be 16-25, 26-44 and 45 and over.
Or it could be a masters division in addition to the 16 over group. The masters division could be age 45 and over or something like that. Or maybe there could be a Sr. adult division that would be 55 and over.
I think it would be good to try it just to see how it works. If it does not work out, then just leave it 16 and over.
It is just a thought since some adults on this board may still want to twirl at Twirl Mania. |

Krandylyn I love your suggestion. I am 50. I dont mind competing with 16 over at those events. I believe unfortunately that the contestants get flustered sometimes and they shouldnt.
Really when USTA added 21 and over, i believe that cured it. 21 over really covers those college and after college. I dont think a say 21-29, 30-45 and 46 over would be advantageous. For me, I would be satisfied with 21 and over. And really, 16 plus in most things is fine.
Thanks for suggesting that though. |

We have a local event in Az and we call it a "masters division" For returning adult twirlers.

Another possible suggestion would be to just add a 21 and over division to each category - beginner, intermediate, advance, etc.
I was just thinking about making the field more even for those who are adults and have twirled for several years with those who are absolute beginners. |

I'm trying to determine which event I sign up for. I will be doing a solo- since this is my first event ever, I assume I'm a Novice. Do I sign up for the "Twirl Mania Solo Championships" on Sat at 8am, since that event is "All Novice & Beginner"?
I love the idea of higher age divisions but it would probably cut down the number of participants in each division. If somebody's 18 but twirls at my level, the competition is fair enough and I don't care about the age difference. We just couldn't go out for a beer together afterward to celebrate our GOLD MEDALS (it could happen).

We are considering attending Twirl Mania. We have heard that it is a great deal of fun and a well attended contest. Does anyone have any tips or advice that we should think about? Thanks! |
