We're not married, but I thought this was too good not to share.

The other day, I wanted to take a shower, and I asked my boyfriend if he could bring in a load of laundry from the dryer, and put the one from the washer into the dryer. He said sure.

A few minutes later, I'm taking my shower, and he comes in, telling me the clothes in the dryer are still wet. I tell him fine, press the start button and that should do it. He runs back out.

He comes right back in. ".... Was the dryer the one on the right?"

*Headdesk*

Once we established that the machine with the wet clothes in it was indeed the WASHER, he did fine.

What would they do without us?

Thats so typical irishdancer! Uses it so infrequently that he doesn't know which one is which? LMAO...

My DH will occasionally do the laundry. When he does we live out of the baskets of clean clothes for at least a week, then he lays out all my folded clothes and says he doesn't know where they go. WHAT? In my drawers! Then he says, Well, I don't know which ones. WHAT? Open the dang drawers and look whats in it!!

I don't get their brains!

This. OH. MY. GOD. THIS.

I do the washing, Mark folds it. He's quite meticulous about it, and lays it all out on our bed. Puts his away, and goes to bed. Then, when I come to bed later on, all my stuff, is either still on the bed, or been thrown on the floor. Doesn't put it away because he "doesn't know where it goes".

Erm...in my drawers, which are right next to yours, and in the same cabinet, with it?! FAR OUT.

Erin.

Non-married as well:

^ That drives me crazy when there is stuff on the bed and then he just moves it aside so he can get in! One night I told him I was right behind him for bed...but instead he goes to bed, turns out all the lights, and closes the door. So, I have to go in and try to climb in quietly but there is stuff all over the bed! Of course then I had to turn the light on which he grumbled about, if only he'd taken the stuff off in the first place!

At least he moves it aside. My boyfriend gets into bed with whatever is on/in it. One time there were scissors in the bed for whatever reason and he just put them to the middle of the bed and got in. How about putting them somewhere less dangerous, huh? I only found them when I woke up in the morning!

I read this thread earlier today then turned my computer off and did some washing, dish cleaning and cooked a lovely dinner from scratch. I returned to my computer to find my boyfriend had sent me photos of his attempt at dinner (he is away at university at the moment). He had tried to heat up a microwave meal and somehow managed to blow it up inside the microwave sending curry everywhere. He appears to have neglected to read the instructions on the packaging...

I'm boggled in the opposite direction now.

I have been exhausted recently and Gordon has got up in the mornings and done some laundry (he has learned how to do it) and made lunch for work for the day :D

This one isn't quite along the same lines as everyone else's...

We'd been talking about what we were going to do about living arrangements after we get married, because we currently live in a house he co-owns with his brother PLUS the brother PLUS another housemate.

He said "I know we'll end up downsizing but we'll still need a long time to save as all the money is going on the wedding".

I said "what about this house though?"

It had genuinely not occurred to him that he will get money from the sale of his current house! It was as if he thought they'd sell the house and then just NOT own a house anymore, rather than exchanging the house for money. He was thinking we'd have to raise all the deposit money from scratch! Nor had it occurred to him that we will also already have things like a bed, a sofa etc.

And this from an accountant?

I've been waiting to post because I had so many stories to choose from!

The absolute best (read worst) was about 20 years ago. I'd just had a miscarriage and had to spend the night at the hospital. The next morning, depressed, crampy, and sick from the anesthesia, my husband picked me up and suggested I go to bed. "I'll feed the kids. Off I went to cry in my pillow.

I was almost falling asleep when I heard cookie sheets dropping all over the floor. Each kid had rounded up a cookie sheet for each item. He said, "We're only going to use one and put the fish sticks on the same sheet as the potatoes and the baked apple casserole. That way MOMMY WON'T HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO WASH"

What a guy! And yet I sometimes wonder what I ever saw in him ;)

I've been doing laundry for others for the last 15+ years. My 1st husband shrank my workout clothing to barbie doll size (think he did it on purpose). I DO NOT let Mr. smiley do laundry...

What the men (son too) do in my house that drives me NUTS? Put the empty carton on the carton inches away from the trash or recycling bin. They cannot seem to ACTUALLY put the stupid thing in the bin!!!! What is THAT about? *head desk* Inches away from its destination?!

Weirdest habit I had to drive out of my husband? He would only wash the INSIDE of cooking pots, because "of course the outside didn't get dirty"... head shake

I am happy to know that it's not me loosing my sanity - in a weird way, this thread is consoling...

In our bedroom we have a small garbage can that is on the far side of his night stand. And yet he will always hand me any garbage to put on my night stand or throw out...argh!

Also, he will remind me to do things instead of just doing them himself...ie "the litter box needs to be scooped" and then walk away from it.

I'm not married, and this is actually about my ex.

I had spent the entire day in class and then at work, and I come home to find him playing video games (typical). He hears me come in and jumps up from his chair "I HAVE TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING!!!111!1" He takes a bag of Skittles, dumps them out on the gross filthy desk, and starts to pick them up with chop sticks and eat them. I told him it was gross to eat stuff off the desk and he got genuinely disappointed and said "Aw, I thought you would be proud of me." He sulked for the rest of the night.

Proud for eating Skittles with chop sticks? Huh.

I'm posting this for my daughter whose husband recently returned from Afghanistan...

During a recent afternoon, she was alerted to her husband SCREAMING 'emergency!!' There was smoke coming from the shed attached to the house and he could not figure out what was causing it.

The cause?? He had been cleaning his gun in the shed with linseed oil the day before and left the linseed soaked rag in the closed up shed. [He neglected to read the container which mentioned that spontaneous combustion can occur under certain circumstances...]

They were VERY lucky!!!

LOL, had to post here! It boggles my mind when he...

1) Can't find something in the fridge because it isn't at eye level, or it is behind something else. Also, I don't think the shelves in the door exist in his universe.

2) The other day he emptied an entire bag of my stuff (which included makeup, my glasses case, a necklace...) into the garbage can. His logic? "There was a scrunched up kleenex in there so I thought it was garbage". That's right, 1 scrunched up kleenex (not dirty may I add!!) that probably got in there by accident. He was lucky the garbage can he dumped it in was empty (and not dirty), and that I noticed before he took it out!

^ hahaha! That happened to me! one grocery bag I brought in because I needed to empty it. He saw a paper towel in there, and threw the whole thing out. Permanently. I was like you didn't see through the bag that there were other things in there? heavy things too??
From what I remember there was a
water bottle for dance
brand new nice to-go cup for hot drinks
silverware
and I *think* a tupperware item.

Just a couple days ago he was asking where all our spoons keep disappearing to. ^ must remind him of this....

I'm also unmarried, but living with my partner. For the most part he can be pestered to clean and takes care of the cat litter and garbage, but oh boy, I feel like I have to find his keys for him about 5 times a day, or his phone, or his glasses...

Mind you, we live in a studio apartment. There are literally a very small amount of places these items could be. But he never thinks to check them...

I also spent a week finding the butter in the silverware drawer before I wrote "Please put me in the fridge so I can hang out with my buddies milk and cheese!" On it in sharpie.
