I need ballet and tap songs for younger kids for recital. If there are any prop ideas that would be awesome too. I am out of ideas and I don't want to keep doing things that have been used over and over. I want outside of the box ideas. I've used umbrellas, teddy bears, lolipops, etc. Any fresh ideas? Thank you! 1 Replies to Little Kid music with props |

We've done a Minnie Mouse costume dance, and everyone holds a small stuffed Mickey Mouse. The latter can be found online at the Disney site, that sells Disney logo items. I got a bunch super cheap because they had an out-of-date stamp on them, and were marked-down. The music we used was from MusicWorks: "My Beanie Baby and Me" and was a tap dance.
We used "Woody's Round-up" music, and had the 4 year olds come out on the stage riding small Happy Hopsters, that were covered with cloth Pony Head tops and saddles. (I had bought one years ago, and had my seamstress make me up a bunch more.) After they danced around their pony a bit, they got back on it, and bounced off the stage. I got a pack of red happy hopster balls (the ones that have handles you hold onto in front) from Oriental Trading. They kids were dressed as Cowgirls, but this would work for little boys too.
For a small ballet, I've used a song "Someday I'll Be Miss America" and had each little girl dressed in a prior years' left-over odd tutu, and wearing a shash with a state name written on it. They can come out one at a time, and get a tiara on stage, from the "Announcer" - who was one of the dads.
We've also done a Ladybug song, with Ladybug wings. |
