Teachers - Competitions First time teacher at convention en>fr fr>en By tappindani88 Comments: 76, member since Sun Aug 04, 2002On Thu Oct 08, 2009 10:17 AM
I am going to a dance convention/competion for the first time as a teacher. I have been teaching for five years. I was wondering what I need to bring and to watch out for as a chaperone. Thanks! 2 Replies to First time teacher at convention |

Are you going to just the convention or are you/your students competing as well? If you are just going to the convention, bring all of your shoes, water, healthy snacks and a notebook!! Conventions are great places to be inspired by new moves/choreography/music.
If you are competing as well, make sure to bring all of your music, including backups, extra tights/makeup/bobbypins and hairnets/clear nailpolish/needle and thread, etc.
Good luck and have fun! |

What to watch out for as a chaperone: I always surf all the rooms to make sure my dancers are where they are supposed to be and that they are dancing. Also on the look out for those kids that might be feeling discouraged or left out and give them a little extra TLC. If you are chaperoning the hotel sleep over too I hope you have lots of help. I have seen it all! Now I am like the hall monitor! My motto is expect the best out of them, but be prepared for the worst. Good luck. As far as the teacher classes go, you'll have a blast. Don't be shy - introduce yourself to the other teachers. You'll make some wonderful friendships. |
