Don't get me wrong I LOVE Michael Jackson, but as we have students signing up for solos, all people want is Michael Jackson songs. I would prefer to refuse to let people dance to him, I am sure there will be an overuse at competition this year.

How do I tell these parents and students NO more MJ???

Explain to all that you have received X amount of requests to use MJ's music for their solos and that you can't make the decision on who gets to dance to his music. Also mention that you do think that everyone will be doing tributes to him, and although it's great 'we' do want to stand out in the crowd at competitions and you don't think your students will by using his music.

I've put a ban on MJ music for solo's and duets just because it's going to be so popular this year.

I don't know how the adjudicators do it each year without screaming, sometimes it's the same piece of music over and over again, it must be frustrating when you know there's so much music out there.
