I was just searching for the music she used on her section of Vegas week (still havent found it yet) and saw that yesterday she announced she was leaving the show. Interesting, wonder why? And if you know the name of the song she used, please post!

Well, I may be the only one to say this and you can all hate me if you want, but I say, "Yay!" I've always disliked her choreography, personally.

She annoys me, so I am glad. I like some of her choreography, not so much others, but I cannot like someone who can find a way to insult people who are there trying to pursue a dream. Yeah, maybe some are delusional but there are kinder ways, like Adam (who is my favorite judge).

She was never my favorite for similar reasons. But I think new choreographers would be good for the show. Honestly, I haven't seen a single episode of this season... (mainly because I keep forgetting to set my VCR; yes, I'm still using VHS!)

I love Adam too. I think he is honest,yet encouraging. He gives a critique that is helpful and not vague like some of the judges do. Ex: "I need more!" OOOkay.... more what?

I feel the same way as everyone else...I think this will be a good opportunity to bring in some new choreographic talent, it will be exciting to see something fresh.

Sadly, I also have not seen one of the Fall shows either. Too busy.

But I was the one who started the "Mia needs and attitude adjustment" thread in the summer.

She's brilliant but toxic. She used to inspire me...I was a huge fan...then I just started feeling sorry for how insecure she seems to be and how it manifests in her meanness. Not at all sad to see her go.

I'd love to see some new choreo next summer too.

Sad to hear it... I do love Mia... I know many feel different... but I do believe that she is straight forward and that the dancers knew her comments were to make them better, whether harsh or not, they also knew when she complimented them it was from the heart and not something she says to all. I don't think she has a mean bone in her... she just says the truth... sometimes tactfully and sometimes not... I have to say I was shocked that she came back to begin with after they made her apologize for being to cruel to one of the dancers.... as I always say... there is more than one side to all stories and I know how I respond to dancers who think they are awesome... ugh.. especially my own dancers... I tell them you know I taught you and I can teach more just like you if not better....

She's had some brilliant pieces but I think there were a couple that were overrated. And she got way too full of herself. I'm wondering if it's because they gave Adam Shankman the permanent judge position and not her? It just seems weird that she would up and leave.

Anyway, I hope this opens up more space for other choreographers and I really hope Wade does more routines this year! To me, he's got far better choreo than Mia. And I've also heard that Mandy Moore's taking over a contemporary group dance in the first couple of weeks that Mia was supposed to do - I love Mandy Moore and I think the past couple of seasons she's had bad luck with the couples she's been given (whereas Mia gets the great ones...) Her "The Rose" group dance from a couple of seasons ago (with Katee and Joshua and Twitch etc) was one of the most beautiful dances I've ever seen.

I love Mia and her choreography. We have had her out at our studio a few times and the last time she was here (which was 2 years ago) she requested to only do 2 master classes and not set a piece. She said she was burnt out and choreographically empty. Just think of having to come up with amazing themes and dances and topping your latest work week after week...it is so draining. Her choreography often tells some kind of story and I think that is harder than just choreographing routines that are fun and entertaining like a disco routine, or jive.

I love that she always tells a story but I, in my own life, try my best to always be kind to others and there is a difference between telling the truth and telling the painful truth. That does not fly with me and being as she is, no matter how "genius" as a choreographer, if I knew her personally, we would never be friends. Could I work with her? Yes, as I can work with anyone but would I like it? No.

Re: Mia having to apologize for her mean comments last season... I thought it was interesting this season that, when she did her audition combo the editing was all about peace and meditation and souls of the dancers. Whether or not she has done that meditative-journey type of warming up every year, they definitely played to a "kinder, gentler" Mia on that episode.

In contrast, they made LaurieAnn Gibson out to be a tyrant LOL. I guess they think that one nasty choreographer makes for great TV. Whether they asked Mia to skew to the opposite side or not, I think it showed her in a good light for her "last hurrah" on SYTYCD.

She's always a tyrant. Have you ever watched Making the Band? She's been the choreographer for that show for years and I've always been a little afraid of her....

hehehe...makes me sad that I haven't seen any of it. I would have like to see how they are trying to re-brand her. Maybe it was her requesting a change in perception. Goodness knows, fans were complaining all over the place about her on the SYTYCD forums this summer. She has to be aware of the public outcry.

Love to think she could make a personal journey so quickly...and I certainly hope she tries to quell the demons within...but I'm gonna bet that she is still very much NOT Zen. HA!

It's TV....REALITY TV to boot.
I lost all respect for Adam Shankman when he openly insulted Tony Meredith and Melanie LePatin at the season finale, the most viewed show of all. At least Tyce has never outwardly insulted a fellow choreographer. He gets nasty when grown adults go up there and waste everyone's time because they just want to be on TV. He finds it insulting to the people who are there who have trained for years and years that these idiots show up and seriously think they can compete, like its so easy to dance correctly. I would get nasty too- especially after sitting there for 14 hours.

Mia on the other hand has a myriad of personal issues that make her the way she is. I have a friend who danced in her company who no longer dances now, she completely lost her love for dance after that experience. Personally I think its terribly unprofessional how she speaks about the season 5 contestants like they were such horrific dancers....correct me if I am wrong Mia- but weren't you on the panel of judges who CHOSE them? She is bitter that her Pulse Protege and best friend's assistant, Kayla, didn't win - and makes no secret of that. She left because they couldn't agree on her contract.

I actually met Laurie Ann before I ever saw her on TV. I was completely shocked at her TV persona .... she was so funny, friendly, kind and normal. People have to keep in mind when they watch that it is a television show and people generally perform for the cameras!

You are right, Tyce never insulted a choreographer. I did not see that part that you speak of with Adam. Too bad.

I just think that they all need to think one thing... kids watch this show, too, and look up to them. Be role models. None of us would do that as we know the kids watch us and learn.
