Naked in your own house

news.aol.com . . .

Should you be arrested for being naked in your own house? This man was inside HIS OWN HOME, not out in the yard or anything. He walked naked to get coffee from his kitchen. Ummm...he's inside his own house, where's the issue?

I think it's kind of weird for someone to be going around naked anywhere, even their home, but I don't think it's worth arresting him! People shouldn't have been looking in his windows anyway.

I walk naked around my house all the time. Its my house. My house is known as "clothing optional" I keep the blinds closed, but still, I feel you're within your right to walk around in whatever you want to, including your birthday suit. :D

I can see both sides of this argument, but this is what got me:

A woman and a 7-year-old boy were cutting through Williamson's front yard from a nearby path

So technically they were TRESPASSING on HIS PROPERTY and then called the police? I want to know if this window was facing the street or if it was on the side of the house, where no one would be able to see into it unless they were on his property.

Yeah, I'd be worried that someone was trespassing on my property and looking through my window at 5:30 in the morning more than I'd worry about anyone being naked in their own house.

While I don't make a habit of it myself, I don't think there's anything at all wrong with walking around naked in your own home. I mean, if you can't walk around naked in your own home, when CAN you walk around naked?

This is wrong.

Granted, if he wanted more privacy he should have had sheer curtains on his windows, but who has sheers on kitchen windows? If his bits could be seen from the road that might be questionable, but if strangers cutting through his yard (as mentioned in the article) complain, tough bikkies.

I would suggest that the woman and her child should be charged with trespassing on his property, and whatever "peeping tom" laws are appropriate in the region. What if he was being intimate with a partner in the kitchen instead? What if it was a bathroom or bedroom window instead of a kitchen?

Unless you're standing in your street-view window, junk plastered to the glass...

I think the polls on the Fox website say it all:

Do you think Williamson should be charged?
No 98%
Yes 2%
Total Votes: 39,584

Do you ever walk around naked in your own home?
Sure 88%
I would if I looked better 7%
Absolutely not 5%
Total Votes: 37,393

I'm with the 98% and the 88%.

And then there is the Fourth Amendment...Remember the part about "unreasonable search and seizure."

The U.S. Constitution...a quaint but useful document.

Oh that is sooooooo ridiculous! If it was like right at the time when all the kids were getting off the bus and walking right by his house and he was in the front room that opened to the street, ok yea I can see that. But without knowing any other possible important details (like is he a registered sex offender and/or knew that these people cut across his property every morning at the same time), then just on what is reported I'd say no fair!!!

Naked in your own home = the bestest. I love to be nakey in my home - provided it is warm and my son is not home. Only one rule though for me and hubby - no sitting on furniture! We also walk around our property at night in the summertime completely naked. But we live on 2.5 acres and do not have close neighbors. I also love to go out into the isolated desert when it is really hot and lounge naked on boulders like a lizard.

I seem to remember a story about Matthew McConaughey getting into trouble about being naked at his house - wasn't he playing bongos naked? My kind of guy.

:)

Ha, how crazy. Then again, I regularly walk through my house, uncovered windows and all, in just my underwear. It seriously baffles me, the prudishness of our culture. It's a naked guy! It's not like this guy was re-enacting a raunchy porno on his front lawn.

Hahahahaha! This is absurd!

If I called the cops every time I saw someone chilling naked/having sex/masturbating/showering in their OWN HOME, I'd be one hated neighbor! I live in a large city with tall apartment buildings and no privacy. I see stuff all the time! :P

I think he should file a counter-suit against the woman (and, if possible, her son).

It's private property, so it shouldn't even be an issue.

That's just weird. I personally wouldn't go around naked in my home. But I don't think it's wrong if someone does. And if someone else who shouldn't even be there happens to see, that doesn't make it a crime. If someone saw me naked through my window, I think I'd feel that I had more right to be upset about the situation than they would.

Lol, my grandmom used to have a house on the street he was caught at. And was charged with violating the noise ordinance, being caught naked and high was just a surprise, not the offense.

I'm sorry but at 5:30 in the morning, if I want to be naked and fixing coffee in my house then I'm going to be naked and fixing coffee in my house, to heck with the rest of the world. It's not like it was broad daylight out and frankly, WHAT THE HECK WAS "A WOMAN" AND A 7 YEAR OLD BOY DOING OUT AT 5:30AM COMING FROM A PATH!?!?!?!? Am I seriously the only one who noticed that? Not his mother and he or a woman and her son, no "a woman" and a 7 yr old boy. WTF?!

I know in most places it is illegal to cut across someone elses property without permission.

This whole thing is flat out ridiculous.

I guess we'll have to start showering with our clothes on lest we forget something and have to dash out of the shower naked and the cops come to get us.

You know something funny in my area? It isn't illegal to be naked out in public. It is if you draw attention to yourself. ( that makes it public exposure). If you chose to walk down naked along the street, there is nothing that cops can do. The second you rub your nipple, THEN it becomes illegal.
I actually called several police stations and they all told me the same thing.
( I was doing a project on a naked student up in Berkely)

I couldn't beleive this story.

The guy is in his own house, the woman was on his property, she is at fault.

I walk around my house in my underwear or naked quite a lot, I had a nosey neighbour who would sit and stare across the street into my window (i'm 2 up) and one day my friend had enough and flashed her bum, the woman has never looked again.

There was a guy who lived across the road and down the street a bit from where I grew up. He used to mow the lawn naked. There is a distinct difference between putting your jiggly bits on display for all the neighbours to see and neglecting to put pants on first thing in the morning inside your own home. I think if this guy was arrested, then my husband is lucky he wasn't arrested for accidentally answering the door naked when a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses came knocking early one morning when he was hungover.

I live in Virginia and think the whole thing is ridiculous. I walk around naked all of the time. It's my freaking house. What the heck were the people doing cutting through his yard? If I were cutting through someone's yard and saw them naked - at 5 AM - I'd feel apologetic and as though I were invading their privacy. I'll tell you what the problem is - the guy has long hair and a beard. That automatically makes hims a prevy hippie freak. They don't take kindly to pervy hippie freaks in NOVA.

I'm not so much a fan of being naked. I get cold easily, so it's never really been my thing. When I have the house to myself, I'll run around in my underwear and a tank top.

The whole situation is ridiculous. They were trespassing and he wasn't doing anything obscene. After a particularly hard night of drinking, my ex had to throw up and ran through the house stark naked to get to the bathroom. He made it in time and everyone thought it was hilarious.

People need to get over themselves. A naked body isn't offensive in the least, hippie perv or otherwise. ;)

When I was in highschool there was a guy who would stand naked in his window every time a school bus passed by. We read in the newspaper he was arrested. I think in that case he should be, it was only when a school bus drove by that he would stand naked in the window, the window faced a very pubic street (he probably lived in an apartment). And who knows, maybe the cops had other stuff on him like child porn, or another sex offense.

In my opinion the mom in this case should get in trouble for trespassing and maybe some other misdemeanor charges.

LOL, Helen, I've been on the other side of that. Trust me, it's even harder for us to not LOL when that happens. :]
