Hi does anyone have a check list of steps and across the floor steps that should be given in a lyrical class that I and my staff could follow?
All my students have to take ballet class with the lyrical. However,I would love to have something concrete to go by.

Why don't you just write a syllabus?

triplet (rise and fall steps) ponche, developes, saute jump, traveling romb da shams, arabesque.
When I teach lyrical I have them practice the same tricks as in ballet and jazz like a combo of the two just unlike jazz they have to be more graceful as well as they need expression and freedom of movement, I don't think I have any steps that a strictly just lyrical steps...I hope this helps

What is a romb da shams?

Rond de jambe....I'm sorry didn't even have a close spelling my fingers must have been sleepy lol! rond de jambes traveling backward or foward.

there are a few good Retter dance videos. I use a lot of the material as a basis for my lyrical classes.

It also depends on whether you really mean lyrical...or contemporary. As we all know these terms have very different interpretations.

If you really mean lyrical, then as the above poster said incorperate ballet steps like balance, waltz, triplets, coupe turns, cuts, drags, catch step, etc

Broadway dance center has some good videos, if you sign up for netflix, they have all the broadway dance center dvds and you can have them sent to you and then just send it back when you are finished.
