Hi everyone!

I am almost finished picking recital songs, but need some help with the last few!! The theme is Extra Extra Read all about it! So anything can really be made to fit (weather, travel, sports, entertainment, fashion etc)

I need 3 Hip Hop songs:
-Aged 7-10
-Aged 10-12
-Aged 12-14

I am also in need of a crowd pleasing, very cute pre-school song for ages 3-4 either ballet or tap!

we did this awhile back. We had a boy in our hip hop class and did would you be my girlfreind by nsync (dear abby) and for the little ones we did going to the chapel (wedding announcements) it was the cutest ever.

For our preschool ballet, we used the song from Mary Poppins that the little boy and girl sing when they are writing their ad for the nanny. I believe it's called The Perfect Nanny.

We did this last year! Same title and all (who doesn't use that title!) We used "Get Your Head in the Game" From HS musical for hip-hop and put it in the "sports section". our older ones did "When I grow up" and "Shake your pom pon" although, I don't remember what section we were able to fit it into. For Preschool, we used "Animal Crackers in my Soup", "Monday Night Football" where they wore little cheerleading outfits, "No Business like Show Business" for the arts and entertainment section. I wish I had a program with me, I could really throw a lot of songs out to you!

Avandy- if you do think of anymore from last year let me know!!! I am still struggling with the older hip hop despite the many GOOD suggestions!!

Any more suggestions would be great- you guys are way more creative than me, I am now changing the song selections for my jazz and tap classes thanks to you!

We did our show in 2008 with this theme. I assigned sections of the newspaper: Crime, weather, want ads, the personals, comics, sports, travel, police log, gossip, advice (Dear Abby), Business, want ads, local news, health & fitness and world news.

Some of the hip hop songs that we used for hip hop were: "Bad Boys" and "Smooth Criminal" in the crime section, "Toy Soldier" in world news section, "Car Wash" in the want ads, "We Run This" in the health section, "Dollar Dollar Bill" in the finanical section, "Piece of me" and "Tabloid Junkie" in the gossip column.

For little dancers we had a cute dance to "How much is that doggie in the window" in the want ads, "Love you I do" and "Baby Love" in the personals, "Pink Panther" and "Inspector Gadget" in the comics and "All Star" and "Slam Dunk" in the sports.

American Boy by estelle - Hip Hop. Could be for travel

We did this a few years ago as well and I had two hip hop classes...I did a mix for each:

-Travel: American Boy, London Bridge(clean version), Paris to Berlin

-Money and Technology: Technologic, Ayo Technology, and I used a piece of the Apprentice theme song (money money money...)

I decided on doing a mix of crime/gang/jail songs for the older hip hop. I am going to use Smooth Criminal as one of them. Do you have any other suggestions for additional songs?

I am going to do a sports/cheerleading mix for the younger hip hop!! And am still deciding for the preschool song!!

Those are all really great ideas! Does anyone have any good ideas for Tap dance songs that will fit under this theme? I've thought of Singing in the Rain to use under Weather Report and Car Wash for Want Ads, but that's it. I would love to hear all of your creative ideas! Thanks in advance!

For tap number I used Want Ads, also Back In Business wallstreet,for hip-hop you could use any popular song since they list the top selling albums in the paper. We used Run It (as in run the story). Newsies opening number, Shop Around sale ads, Graduation Vitmin C, graduation announcements, Age of Aquarius Horascopes. Pres-school Pink is For Little Girls fashion, Kitchen Cooks food section, I would need to check my program also.
