Flick leap or flick jump. You start with both feet in plié, jump up, split the legs and flick the back foot up towards the head... and yes, it is the one you see in Firebird but it is not called a Firebird jump or Kitri jump.

:D

I personally refer to it as the kitri jump....I have not heard a formal name for this. Although it is a sissone since it jumps from two feet.

True, it is basically a sissone but all of my teachers called it a Flick. Strange how they have different names from so many.

It is not what I called it when I was a student or in my first 20 years of teaching. But it is now officially the "Firebird". It's been in Dance Magazine ad's and all over the net. I do not know who named it but that's the name now?!

I call it a Kitri leap. Everyone at my studio does. I've heard all the other terms for it, but Firebird the most.

I always thought if you started it like a sissone from two feet it was a kitri and if you were attempting it as a leap off of one foot or out of a turn it was a firebird.

Sometimes I really wish there were standard terms for things like this. It get so confusing sometimes!
