we have beautiful hardwood flooring that we recently refinished because it was destroyed by stickers and masking tape and glow tape that we leave down as markers for the young kids. ANy other ideas to protect the floors? Even wall stickers are not easy to get up after a day or two of dancing on it and it's too much work to always be putting it down and taking it up! 12 Replies to stickers on dance floors |

I use the blue painters tape, lots of different colors, and it comes off easily. |

I use foam circles (in the craft section) from Wal-Mart. I just lay them down for my younger classes and pick them up after class is finished. |

I used to use tape on the floor and it looked so sloppy. Hair and fuzz would get stuck to it and it was hard to get up.
I use non-permanent things now similiar to the foam circles. I got the idea from another SO who comes here sometimes
I want the markers to be as similar to what the kids will be using on stage when we DO actually tape the stage so for the classroom I tape shapes on pieces of transparent paper. Therefore when they are on the floor, all the kids really see is the red-colored-tape-shape and I can move them for different classes and they aren't permanent.
I then use the same colored tape to make the same shapes on the stage. You can't use my temporary ones b/c other classes with formation changes may slip on them.
This has made my class room so much cleaner and easier to manage..sometimes it really is just the little things that make a difference! |

I don't know if this will help but I use caulk. Shapes/Lines/Circles and it works great by the end of class its all gone with a little left for me to clean up. Its worked for years and the kids are used to it for the day of the show. |

We have Marley, so I don't know if you would want to do this to wood (or if it would even work). We use Sharpie markers and number 1-10 in three lines. The front line is blue, middle is red, back is black. We use the exact same numbering system on the stage, but use stickers. |

Caulk? Or chalk? I'm trying to envision that. |

Electric tape....it comes in many different colors and WONT leave a sticky mess on your floor when pulled up.
We use black, blue and gray
For my little kids I have stuck stickers ontop of the electric tape. |

I use carpet squares. I usually refer to them as the child's house during their class. But sometimes it is their boat, magic carpet, car, etc., just depending on what mt lesson plan calls for. |

gaffer or spike tape
i found the most colors on ebay...kinda pricey, but as long as you only use it for it's intended purpose, it should last.
I also use it to decorate vehicles for a parade...leaves no residue & comes off clean.
I got 4 different colors of the really thin tape & alternated colors on our floor with a 1" piece, replacing it about once a week. |
