Teachers - Job Talk "Why do we have two legs?" en>fr fr>en By lidwina Comments: 5668, member since Sat Dec 30, 2006On Wed Oct 28, 2009 12:10 PM
I taught my kids 'pied a la barre'. It was the first time so I took all the time to get their bodies right / straight / proper with their right foot at the barre. After that they collapsed from being in that new position for so long.
I said: "Okay, and now your left floor on the barre!"
And one of the kids mumbled: "Why do we have two legs?"
(My reply was: "To hop all the time isn't great either.") 4 Replies to "Why do we have two legs?" |

That's a good come back! How old are the dancers that you taught this exercise to? I taught this exercise to my ballet class (ages 8-10) and have found that it really helped them to stretch their legs when they execute developpe. They wince and groan quietly during the pied a la barre exercise tho. |

These girls are 10-11, but very stiff in the hips. I hope this helps them, besides all the floor stretching. |

Some of my girls are stiff in the hips too and I have found that this helped a great deal. I was hesitant at first to do it with them but glad I stuck with it. |
