Ask a Teacher Specific exercises and steps for pre pointe???? en>fr fr>en By J1ll Comments: 1311, member since Wed Oct 14, 2009On Thu Nov 05, 2009 11:37 AM
I am looking for suggestions for a 1/2 hour pre pointe class (this is in addition to their regular ballet schedule) specific exercises and steps they should be doing to strengthen ankles and feet etc...I have never taught a pre pointe class before but should I plan to run the entire class in demi pointe as opposed to just releve? Thanks teachers! 4 Replies to Specific exercises and steps for pre pointe???? |

I have a 15 minute theraband workout on the feet with my pre pointe and my beginner pointe classes, working through the foot going through the positions with a definite stop and then smoothly, laying on our backs with our feet up in the bands pushing the feet away from our bodies to a parallel first and then pushing out to a parallel second. Then with out the bands we do circles with our feet and write the alphabet. Then it's to the barre for rises and releve's on one and two feet. |

lots of slow rises in parallel, 1st, 2nd, 5th. practiving proper ankle position.
progressing to releve's in those positions.
echappes in 2nd- 2 counts, then 4 count versions
progressing later in the year, to releve devant, derrier, and passe derrier and passe devant with the toe taking the place of the heel(always a problem it seems).
pas de bouree piques
once comfortable with these things at the barre, moving some exercises to the center. |

Thanks everyone! I think I have a good class planned! Appreciate the help, sometimes you just ned to validate what you already know! I'm constantly second guessing myself! Bad habit for a dancer! |
