My older students call me by my first name, and my younger students call me miss "first name". None of them use my last name. |

My name is Jill so my students call me Miss Jill, though MY ballet teachers were always Madame "first name". I think the Miss keeps it respectful enough but the first name keeps it comfortable. |

Always Miss and my first name. No one ever uses my last name. Sometimes my teens and my comp girls call me by just my first name. That doesn't really bother me. |

They can call me either Miss First Name or just my name.
Either is fine.
They have to KNOW my name though. Sometimes the newest babies will just say "teacher" and I stop everything and say "if I can learn hundreds of your names, you can learn my ONE name." Then I ask the group "What's my name?", so that the all chime in.
No generic "teacher" allowed. |

Same as everyone else. I am Miss Kaylie to the little girls and Kaylie to the older girls, but I DO NOT allow just teacher or just miss.
Just a silly pet peeve of mine! |

do they use Miss even if you're married? Just curious, there is a teacher in town that is referred to as Mrs. Rita (not her real name) and i think it just sounds funny. |

My married friends still go by Miss Teacher.
Maybe it's just that teachers preference?
Also, oddly the male teachers I am friends with don't use Mr. Teacher, they are all just called by their first names. |

I go by Miss "first name" for all of my students but my adults. They sometimes refer to me as Miss ___ when speaking to their children in front of me. I've always gone by this when teaching. All of my dance teachers were that way as well. I'm married now and still go by Miss. I managed a studio once where the owner insisted that if you were single it was Miss, if you were married it was Mrs. "first name". I also thought that was dumb.
One teacher/owner I worked for did go by Mrs. "last name" for absolutely everyone, students, parents, etc. She even had them write their tuition checks to "Mrs. Last Name", really weird! |

I go by Miss Valerie. It drives me nuts when parents call me Valerie...even when their kids are not around like in an email. Miss Valerie just feels more respectable to me and less personal. I'm a weirdo
I have a new teacher who told me that her teens always just called her by her first name but my teens will be calling her Miss. |

I always use the Ms First name and at school I allow them to call me Ms. M because my last name is pretty complicated for them. I am married and Ms is fine. I think using the Ms is always a sign of respect. I do not allow my students to call me only by my first name. If they do, I politely remind them I am Ms. M or Ms. Eva. I actually call my older students Ms. and their name. I guess I'm old school. |

I go by Miss Merry especially with my younger students. Depending on when my older students came to me depends on weather they call me Miss Merry or Merry. I have about half of them that call me Miss Merry and the other half that just call me by my first name. I do make them call me Miss Merry when we are with the younger students just as a respect thing. I will also call them Miss "so and so" to show my respect to them. My adults all call me Merry in class but a lot of them are my dance parents so when they are writing an email or with their kids they will say Miss Merry. I have had a few preteens try and call me by my first name and I ignore them until they call me Miss Merry.
My main dance teacher (when I was younger)I still refer to her as Miss "first name" and I know a lot of the other girls that I danced with and they started calling her by her first name when we were teenagers and I just thought that it wasn't very respectful. But then my ballet teacher I have always called her by her first name but her younger students call her Miss "first name." Most of my other teachers, I always came in as an older student, I always called them by their first name.
Miss Merry |

All of my students call me by my first name.
I call my students "Miss First Name".
And I have one four year old that calls me "Mrs. Rosa," although that is neither my first OR my last name. LOL She must have another teacher with that name. I have to remind her every week that is not my name. |

My kids call me by Ms. (Firstname) but I did have one very observant student call me Mrs. (Firstname) after I got married. But the studio I came from, even the teachers called each other Ms. (Firstname) which was hilarious out in public - the habit stuck so if you ran into a fellow teacher the Ms. would just jump out there before you had time to realize you're not at the studio. |

all the staff- teachers, office, and assistants-go by "Miss (first name)" or for our male teacher Mr. even though he's only 19. I don't allow the older kids to call me by just my first name because I think it's disrespectful. Its their way of trying to put you on the same level as them. I have kids now who come back form college who still put the Miss in front of my name! And I love the little ones at the start of the school year because I get a lot of Mrs. even though I'm not married. I think their teacher at school must be a Mrs. |

We are in the South and even though some parents do not require their children to be respectful to adults, all of our teachers are Ms first name or Mr. first name. I also require Yes ma'am and No ma'am or sir! I'm old school and demand respect from all of our dancers young and old!
And it pays off, they all love and respect me! |

I introduce myself as Miss Kara, but it takes the littlest ones a while to get the hang of that, so a lot of them still call me Miss Teacher. They get it eventually. |
