I was hoping you guys had some cute ideas for a parents day. I teach dance at a public elem. school. I am trying to plan a parents day where the parents can come and see the studio and also see what the kids are doing in dance class. The students will do a couple dances but I was wondering if anyone had some ideas as to what else to do to fill the time?

I've heard of some schools who get the Dads in the audience to do a dance on stage. Some litle ditty along the same lines as the ones their DD's are doing. Not too many Dad's are as graceful as their daughters (or sons) but it seems to be pretty popular with the audience, judging by the continuous laughter. Plus which, the resulting videos look pretty good on YouTube.

Maybe offer a prize for the daughter/son of the best Dad dancer.

how long is this for? an hour or more? When is it? If you have time, I would take pictures of kids in class and display them on boards as a collage. I know parents love to see pics of their kids. Try to get group shots, action shots, some candid individual shots, etc.
You could offer a chance for parents to see what they do in class, for exapmle, if you do a changement exercise in center, get a few volunteers to do a jump series in center. Its along the same lines as the dad dance- it will get a laugh and i bet some respect for your kids.
You could also have your kids write down their favorite memory so far or what dance has taught them, and then they can all share them.
