Teachers - Job Talk Preping Class for after Ballet exams en>fr fr>en By dancecandy Comments: 55, member since Sat Jun 14, 2008On Fri Nov 13, 2009 12:48 PM
It's my first time teaching students who enter into RAD exams. I mostly teach PrePrimary and Primary, Grades 1,4 and 5. Exams are next week! I am nervous but now I'm trying to prep for the upcoming classes. My SO told me it's just mostly open class, having fun next week. And leading up to Christmas we are transitioning the kids into the next levels. But now is also a good time to start choreography for festival.
So my question is...what have you found works for you? I am not that into dance games. Maybe one at the end of class and even so I try to have it tie into the theme of the day. I would like to give them some slack as they have been working their butts off for exams, but I would also like to keep working on that technique we worked so hard for.
Is now a good time just to do some across the floor free work and choreo? And start the new level in January? 1 Replies to Preping Class for after Ballet exams |

I personally hate dance games. I love to teach, and can not stand when kids ask me "what games are we going to play". Other teachers where I teach play games.
I think some free work, would be a welcomed change. I know the kids get a bit stressed before and during exams, they might love just having a ballet class. You could try working on a fun dance step not covered in their level this year, but something you will introduce next year. |
