Teachers - Competitions Dance Formations and Transitions... en>fr fr>en By dancinmyazoff Comments: 89, member since Tue Nov 16, 2004On Mon Nov 16, 2009 11:47 AM
Does anyone else have a problem with formations and transitions? Small groups I find it very easy but my competition classes a little on the larger side and when doing formations and transitions I feel like I either never have enough space to do anything but 3 lines plus I have a wide variety of dance levels and heights in my classes. Any advice? 4 Replies to Dance Formations and Transitions... |

You could try level changes or group work. Diamonds and pyramids have good visual effects for performances. |

I totally agree with you but sometimes the small groups are just as hard! I like triangles and "staircases"-diagonals of two people side by side like this: works good for partnering different levels and sizes as well.

The M & M's idea is genius! I can use the colors to specify levels, I'm going to run to the food store today and buy a bag to try this. This would have come in handy last year when I did a 72 person lyrical production!!! |
