Teachers - Music Now, this is a different music request en>fr fr>en By hummingbird Comments: 4184, member since Tue Apr 19, 2005On Tue Nov 17, 2009 10:47 AM
I have two senior students who are sisters and want to do a lyrical duet as a memorial to their grandparents who passed away not long ago. As you can imagine it's proving to be a bit challenging finding the right piece of music, so I thought I would ask my favourite people here and see if anyone has any good ideas.
Thanking anyone in advance who might be able to help me out on this one. 15 Replies to Now, this is a different music request |

"Wind Beneath My Wings" (it's used a lot, but the song is beautiful)
"Candle in the Wind" - Elton John
"Dream a Little Dream of Me" - Mamas and the Papas
"I will follow you into the dark" - Death Cab for Cutie
"Smile" - Nat King Cole or other artists (I think I might cry if I tried to choreograph to this one. There certainly wouldn't be a dry eye in the audience!)
"You'll Never Walk Alone" - Judy Garland or other artists |

Just reading through the songs listed ^^^^ made me start to tear up...
"Unforgettable" Natalie Cole (might not work for lyrical)
"Angel Standing By" Jewel
"Fix You" Coldplay
"Time" Chantal Kreviazuk
"If It Wasn't For Your Love" Heather Headley
"Auld Lang Syne" Billy Vaughn - kinda weird, but your post made me think of this song
"Time After Time" instrumental version - Jake Shimabukuro
I like the songs that have happier tones - like you're remembering the good memories instead of being sad they're gone. |

Thank you everyone, I'm sitting here with tears dripping all over my keyboard, I just hope I can pull myself together and do this piece justice for them. I just know it's going to mean a huge amount to them both, you've given me so much to think about and to go over with them.
I just knew I could count on peoples help here, thank you again. |

A group at our state dance team competition last year did a lyrical routine to Because you Loved Me by Celine Dion and each dancer recorded a special message to their moms that was mixed in with the music. It was a surprise to the moms that saw it for the first time at competition and the whole arena was choked up!! Im tearing up just thinking about it! |

Bye Bye Blackbird- I personally like the Judy Garland version.
I also like the music from the movie "Up." Tears. All over.
Have you thought of asking the girls if their parents know songs or artist that the grandparents liked? That might shed some light and give you ideas. |
