I need some guidance on teaching modern class. How do you set up your lessons (what exercises to you do when)? How do you theme your classes? I feel like my modern choreography ends up looking like contemporary jazz, any advice?

I have been theming my class (beginner) where the first few weeks we talked about spine articulations, the next few weeks we talked about the 6 qualities of movement, and now we are discussing use of breath. I usually do a ritual warm-up standing using the spine, then we move to the floor and do another set of spine exercises. Then we sit and do Limon head drops, then stretch, then a plie exercise, tendu/degage/rond de jambe, leg swings, triplets and prances, feet exercises and small jumps, big jumps. I would love to see how you all do it:) I do not normally do a center combo, it is only an hour class. We also typically, but not always, improv at the end.
