Ok so I have recently been choosing costumes for our competition team. In our youngest group I have two jazz groups- 1 large and 1 small. So for the one group I chose a little pink and black number that will have black sock/leg warmers with it, obviously I chose black shoes for this outfit. For the other group I chose a flashy little gold number, so I chose to put tan shoes with it because of the light color and obviously tan tights. In the past I have had judges comment on putting black shoes with tan tights or tan shoes with anything black. I do understand that it may be difficult for people to purchase two different pairs of shoes, but afterall the parents chose to be in two diferent classes.
What are some of your opinions on this? Should I change the outfits to accomidate for shoes, or stick with the shoes (afterall the outfits are what I vision for the choreo and music)?

are they two very seprarate groups?? I remember spray painting shoes all the time as a kid in dance to save some $.

Can the girls that need tan shoes dance barefoot - sometimes thats super cute and really fun for the girls! Liberts has some shoes as low as $14!!

Honestly, go with one color of shoes. Unless these girls are completely grown and come a million hours a week, the parents won't want to hassle with 2 pairs of shoes that will be outgrown soon. If I were a parent I'd be kinda pissed knowing that you'd be able to somehow make the costumes accommodate one color of shoe, yet don't.

At the studio i work at, one pair is purchased by the parents for class.
If a costume requires another pair of shoes they a purchased by the studio out of the costume fee. We get them Revolution so they are cheap but still well made

It depends on your parents.....I would really try to choose a costume where they only had 1 type of shoe.

With this economy, I would make one pair of shoes work. Try the barefoot with one if you can.

I think you'll need to make it work with 1 pair of shoes. It's different if you had required 2 pairs at the beginning of the year for the class but to make parents buy shoes JUST for recital is a little frivolous. I think you could make tan or black work with both outfits.
