Are you feeling the resession? Are you taking steps to save money because less is coming in or because you are worried?

I'm up! 465 this year from 220 last year. But I definitely do not think we are typical.

We are still hearing about the "economy" from our dance families. We offered two fundraisers this year to help them pay for their dance expenses and that went over really well.

I'm doing less paid advertising this year and relying more on "word of mouth", as well as referral bonuses, etc. I registered 10 new students just this week from some flyers we put in the surrounding schools last week.

I increased my tuition fees and costume fees this year, as well, to bring in extra revenue.

Personally, I am not being affected by the recession. I'm not trying to brag by any means, as I've had some rough years in the beginning phases of the studio. I'm just feeling very thankful and fortunate for what I DO have!

I attended Sam Beckford's seminar two summers ago. I have been using many of his suggestions and here I am! I went from 65 students to 465 students in the 14 months that I've been in the program.

Completely worth it, if anyone is considering attending! :)

We're up from last yr and still taking in new enrollments almost daily. We're in an area that's pretty stable economically.

Up here as well by about 40%, but I've added locations and expanded my offerings.

Parents are also talking about the economy, but I am in a ridiculously wealthy demographic, so it is not the same as in many other areas that are harder hit.

Also up this year, went from 80 students to 135. I did bump my tuition up a little bit, but that was more because I didn't bump my prices when we moved mid-season last year. People around here don't seem too worried now that the major factory is back up to full time.

We are up as well and have been all year, we are still getting enquiries and enrollments weekly and we only have 4 weeks left until the end of the year.

I am not a SO but I am very involved with the 2 studios where I teach. At one we are up I would say about 20%-25% ( this studio is in a very affluent area so maybe thats why) and the other is down about the same (it's in a more middle class area.) At the studio where we are down she did have to cut back on the number of classes a day for some days AND let a FEW teachers go! Its sad but definitely a reality in this time of uncertainty.
I've been lucky that the studio with the higher enrollment has been able to give me more classes and subbing to make up for the income i'm losing teaching at the other studio (I'm also lucky enough that both studios pay enough that ALL i do is teach). BUT they have been hit hard by an audit and taxes that i think are due in part to the recession. The state seems to be looking for ways to get more money!!
