About Jolt Dance Convention/The Workshop
JOLT Dance Convention/The Workshop (JDC)
After teaching in various Workshops, Intensives, Summer programs and Master classes along with requests and encouragement from her students, Joyce King of Steps on Broadway, NYC, created JoltDanceConvention/The Workshop
JDC, offers classes geared toward strengthening the dancers overall performance, through establishing a character within the choreography, expanding each individuals technical ability/style, while creating an environment where they are inspired to embrace their own uniqueness and vibrancy in performance. Limited enrollment enhances this opportunity for further individual attention with JKDC faculty.
Classes are taught by Joyce King, Producer, Director of JDC, Artistic Director, choreographer, of the newly formed, JKing Dance Company and faculty member of one of NYC‘s top dance studios, Steps on Broadway. Megan Doyle, who has worked extensively for Disney, in the Dance with Hannah Montana video, industrials and special events for the Jonas Brothers and Emily Osment.
Join JDC faculty for a day of classes in Contemporary Jazz, Fusion Jazz * Jumps/Turns and Theatre Jazz. All combinations will be reviewed and danced at the end of the day in groups of 6 with the focus on individual performance. Feed back/direction will be given by JDC faculty with the opportunity to perform the work a second time incorporating the feed back/direction.
New this year, Two full scholarships will be awarded in honor of Suzanne Taylor – Michaud and Adrienne Hawkins. Recipients are awarded free tuition to a one day JDC event the following year! Read further details click Registration for NYC.
Also New this year is the showcase portion of our event. This segment offers an opportunity to perform a choreographed piece and receive professional feed back /direction within a non—competitive environment. You must be registered for the entire workshop to participate. Solos, duets and groups are invited to perform for 2 or more of our JDC faculty in which they will receive immediate feedback. Written feedback is also offered. These works need not be completed, but can be a work in progress.
