Hi everyone. Its been a while since my last post but I am in need of a song dealing with domestic violence. Its for a advanced lyrical class of older teens. I am open to any type of music/song. Thanks! 15 Replies to Lyrical song about domestic violence |

Behind the wall is an amazing song. i'm actually using it this year for a solo. Its a short song and done with just Tracy Chapmans awesome voice. You would probably need to add or edit to create it to be long enough for a group piece. I'm even having to add in some silence to make it long enough for a solo. Its just under 2 minutes. |

Those are all great suggestions. I used Behind the Wall for a teen lyrical a few years ago. I really like Oh Mother because the music and vocals give you a lot to work with.

Last year I had a girl do a solo to He's Hurting Me, by Maria Mena. I've never heard anyone use this song before except us. We had to cut out the "f" word, but its a very clean cut and easy to take out.
Great song for older girls who can pull it off. My soloist showed the emotions of trying to leave (she had clothes and a suitcase on stage) and at the very end she slammed her suitcase closed and "left the guy". |

Janet Jackson has an amazing song called What About. You have to edit some of the explicit stuff. |

Luka by Suzanne Vega would be my choice, but I don't know what you're looking for. Also, here are some others I thought of. Four of the five are country-ish, except for Pearl Jam.
Independence Day by Martina McBride
Broken Wing by Martina McBride
Better Man by Pearl Jam
The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks
Ask Me by Amy Grant |
