How many classes per week? en>fr fr>en

Just a general question I've been really curious about, and would appreciate as many answers as possible...

How many classes do you take per week and how long are they?
What level would you consider yourself?

I've only ever been taking beginner classes and I'm doing up to 3 classes a week. I'd reeeallly like to do more but i wonder if that'll affect my gains since i hear that you shouldnt take more than 3-4 in your first year?

Thanks!!! And excuse me for being so clueless on this!!

For ballet, I only take one class a week (it's an hour long). It's my second year of ballet but I switched to a new studio this year and they started me over in a complete beginner's class :?.

So yeah, I'm in ballet I and ballet II is done the same way. By the time you get to ballet III, you get to take two classes a week (an hour and a half each) plus two pre-pointe classes a week (half hour each). Ballet IV and V are done the same as ballet III except they do pointe instead of pre-pointe.

That's how my studio does it, obviously all are different. I don't know if taking more than 3 or 4 a week is dangerous for a beginner but I will tell you that I'm super jealous that you even have that option ;) (I'd love to take more than one ballet class a week!).

Also, I'm assuming you're talking about just ballet, right? If you mean all classes combined, here's what I do:
Ballet: 1 class per week (1 hour long)
Jazz: 1 class per week (1 hour long)
Modern: 1 class per week (1 hour long)
Hip Hop: 2 classes per week (one is 1 hour long, the other is 1.5 hours long)
In total, this is my fourth year dancing.

I take two ballet technique classes and one pointe class. I would consider myself beginning intermediate...? I'm not sure :)

I take 3 group classes a week that are 45 mins long, and then one private lesson which is technique/pointe which is also 45 mins.
I want to start taking another ballet (1hr) and a pointe (45 mins) as well though, but I go to two studios and there is a clash on thursdays, so if I went to the ballet and pointe that would mean stopping a ballet a modern and a tap... :\

Adult here: I take 8-9 classes a week, some are an hour, some an hour and a half and one is two hours long.

I do 4 regular tech classes - one of which is an hour and a half, the others are an hour, the rest are with pointe shoes.

Total hours in ballet runs to about 11 hours a week. My two hour class is all on pointe.

I'd consider myself an intermediate-advanced student. But I'm old, very old....

I can't give any advice about taking or not taking more than 3-4 classes since I've never heard anything about that, but I take 6 classes in 5 days, I have four 1 1/2 hour classes in the highest level, one 1 hour class with the level below mine, for extra class time and a more basic class, and I have a 1 hour private once a week (my favorite class!). But I wish I had more classes, I wish I could be there all day

I have 3 classes a week. 2 teen ballet classes, and a pointe class on demi pointe. Each class is 45 min.

So a grand total of 2hrs and 25 min

I take 4 ballet classes each an hour long,
1 pointe class an hour long,
and 1 pre-pointe/strengthening class 30 minutes long.

So 5.5 hours of dance total which isn't great but it's spread across 4 days which I really like instead of a bunch of classes back-to-back one or two days.

I take two ballet classes a week both are on pointe.
One of them is an hour and a half, the other is 2 hours.
On top of that I take lyrical, once a week for an hour, jazz once a week for an hour, and 2 tap classes a week both for an hour.
And then rehearsals on weekends that vary when it comes to how long they are so I just won't count them.
So my total hours a week not counting rehearsals is 7.5

No one should try to dance better than anyone else. Try only to dance better than yourself. Your progress and skill of the Ballet cannot be measured by the hours of practice or the number of exercises you complete but rather by the care you use when doing them.

I do 3 RAD Advanced 2 classes per week, plus another open (non-syllabus) ballet class, a contemporary class, a stretching/conditioning class and a pointe class. I would consider myself fairly advanced, though by no means pre-pro.

I take 3 ballet classes a week.
The first 2 are 50 min long, and the 3rd is about 70-75 min long.
Also I forgot to mention, I am a beginner, and have been taking ballet for about 3 months now.

I take 3 ballet classes a week each 90 minutes long, I also take 1 jazz class a week 90 minutes long and I usually go to the adult beginner drop-in which is a 60 minute class.

Of that time, 30 minutes of it is pointe.

I take 6 classes per week, 1 hour-1.5 hours each. I'd consider myself intermediate. I'm in mostly highest level classes, but there's always so much more to learn that "advanced" wouldn't really suit me.

I think you could take a few more classes if you'd like. Don't let yourself burned out, but you should be aware of your limits. I personally didn't improve much until I decided to take quite a few extra classes.

I take 4 classes a week. There are different levels at my studio starting with pre-ballet up to ballet 5. I am currently in ballet 3 and 4 moving up to ballet 4. My ballet 3 class is 2 hours including pointe, my other ballet 3 is an hour and a half with a 45 mintue pointe class right after. Lastly, my ballet 4 class is an hour and a half, sometimes all on pointe or just the last 30 mintues. I have to take a min. of 2 ballet classes to be in my dance company Ypsilanti Area Dancers (YAD). I don't know what I would consider myself.
