NBTA 'X-Strut'
At a recent competition my daughter received a comment that stated, "More Baton Work, Needed", what exactly does this mean?
She already does, swings and loops from end of baton, and cut backs, but not to sure what they are looking for.
thanks again 5 Replies to 'More Baton Work" NBTA comment |

I get this comment ALL THE TIME and it can be extremely frustrating! Judges all have different styles of judging and there are judges that like to see as much motion with your baton as with your feet. If I were you, I would try adding flashes/whips, passes over the shoulder, under the leg passes on illusions, neck wraps, taffy pulls, and horizontal wind ups. Good Luck! |

I have received this comment before as well. Try to keep the baton moving from hand to hand doing whatever flows naturally to you. |

The goal is for the baton to be moving continually and for it to work with the footwork. Often the baton is an after thought or it is held in the same postion for too long. |

It's pretty obvious x-strut is all about body work not baton so if she said more baton it means more verticla twilrs but not leavingyour hand becuase you wil be penalized I had to find out the hard way. |

Yes, that's correct. You can't have any baton releases in an NBTA Strut. You will have points taken away if you do. |
